After all the recent postings, it is my perception that we, as a group, need a new topic. And so -- with the new year of 2002 now in progress -- perhaps it is a good idea to start posting goals for ourselves. The goals of Barbie Perkins-Cooper are listed below. My hope is that others who wish to work as writers will choose to post short term or long term goals for themselves too. And so it goes --- For the year 2002, I hope to achieve the following: * Write something daily -- other than e-mails. Goal -- to write 1500 words daily! *Monday -- write five query letters to: producers for screenplays theatres for plays agents -- goal to find a new agent for my talents *Tuesday -- work on screenplays and plays Goal -- 3 pages each *Wednesday - Allow at least two hours (without interruptions, including e-mail) to write -- outlining actions of screenplays, plays and a new book - Chattahoochee Child *Thursday - Complete screenplay based on work in progress Complete Chattahoochee Child Goal -- to complete both of these projects before 2002 ends. *Friday - catch up days Overall long term goals: 1. Finish two projects mentioned 2. Find a new agent -- via Writers Guild of America 3. Start new projects Barbie Perkins-Cooper, Author Condition of Limbo |

My goal for '02... Get an agent. That is a big one, so I probably don't need to have others... but of course I do. - complete (satisfactorily) the revision of "Awareness" - finish "Hunger" - work steadily on "Recovering Earth" and sacrifice it to the crit group. - continue to make the Mindsightseries.com site and the forum excellent tools. 1). Find an agent. 2). Find publisher for sequel to Tattered Pages. 3). Finish edits for sequel. 4). Find publisher for children's story. 5). Break out of my comfort zone and write a fiction story. 6). Acquire more freelance work. 7). Make better use of my time, in general. I've read this thread a dozen times, but hate putting my goals on the board. That holds me to them, and actually I was getting away with ignoring them.... Thanx for the push! Vickie |

Vickie: No one procrastinates more than a writer does, I do believe, and that is the reasoning for creating a 'goals' section. I am the worst at finding something else to occupy my mind; nevertheless, if I want to succeed (and I do!) I must put things in writing, because it does help to motivate me -- at least -- sometimes! Congratulations on your courage, C.E., Laurie Anne and Vickie. For a while I thought I was nuts for even suggesting goals. How about the rest of you 'regulars' to this site? Where are your goals? Come on gang. We know you can do it! See you...at the Movies...Plays...and One Day...the Oscars! Barbie |
