Dennis, if it's the same Five Star I've heard of... they're pretty decent (from what I've heard). No, no personal dealings with them.

Dennis, they deal mostly with libraires.

The focus of Five Star Publishing is on the library market with more than half of our books sold on standing order. When a librarian signs up for a standing order, they save both time and money and are assured of being first to get all the new titles in that series. In addition, librarians know that our editors will select the very best titles to be published.

Hope this helps.

Well, I understand that libraries play a very important role in the name recognition game. I'd like to have my book in more. Right now, it's in a smattering of libraries around Michigan and quite surprisingly, a few in the Chicago area.

If they have a lot of their titles in libraries, I suppose that marks them as a mainstream publisher.

Thanks

Another publisher question...

Point Blank Books, it's an imprint of WildSide Press, an Engish based company.

Point Blank is new and doesn't have a track record yet but Wildside has been around a while. I've already asked Victoria about it but was wondering if anybody here has had any dealings with them.

Wanted to pull this one back to the top to see if anyone has ever heard anything about "Point Blank Press," or "Wildside."

Point Blank is new and is an imprint of Wildside. Wildside is based in England. Victoria sent me a note with her thoughts. I was just wondering if anybody had any inside dope or has heard any whisperings.

They seem to be neither fish nor fowl. Wildside being commonly known as one of the "different" POD's and moving toward traditional.

According to their (Point Blank) acquisitions editor, they are competitively priced, accept returns, send out review copies to folks like Library Journal and Kircus Reviews. He also says that they have an established distribution network. I wonder just how established it is.

I have not heard of them, Dennis. Sorry. But if they are like imprints of other publishers, they probably are able to operate under established Wildside contacts.

Believe Denise Dietz publishes with them, Dennis. Contact her. I think she has a web site. She's a good writer.
