Subject: National Recognition

Message:
Today I received a certificate for national recognition from EFA for "your valuable efforts to improve the lives of people with epilepsy and other chronic disabilities and to advance public understanding about seizure disorders. The panel was very impressed..."
This was sent me by national offices of the Epilepsy Foundation.

You know that the first thing I did was run off to the frame shop!

Well - it's not the Making a Difference award out of 33 women, but it's still a big deal to me, and they still think I am making a difference. If you only knew what I went through to get this far! - couldn't so much as SAY the word 'seizure' before I met hubby, mgr., Eric.

Thanks, Y'all!
Now what was fun was the form they sent with the recognition asking (if I wanted !!! - WE know the answer to THAT!) for all the cities of family members and civic/religious institutions that I wanted informed. And they asked about my favorite newspaper (which, BTW, did a big story on me last August '02).
EFA states they will send out press releases to all the city papers of whomever I named. Clap-clap-clap!
I was not too shy about that form though they DID give the option of backing out. - I can't say that everyone who has dealt with seizure disorders is as candid as I am!
But I was sure as heck to put my info on AUTHOR on that personal info form!
Well - we'll see what comes of that!
Wish I could get that frame back for my signing on Sunday, but I'll at least take my framed Houston Chronicle article to show off!

(Have you had enough of me yet??? - Bear with me -- I don't get to act like this very often!) Grins-- Stephanie

ALLLL RIIIIIIIGGGGHHHHHTTTTT! (Did ya hear me clapping and squealin'??)

For those of you who want clearer sound go into:
www.oneplace.com/Ministries/BytheBook/

It's today's features or this week's feature. - something like that. - goes into Archive after this week, but still reachable.
I keep getting excited listening to it -- had my apartment manager listening to it yesterday - and, ya know, it's like she sees me in a whole new light! - dang! - She's known about the book for over a year!

Better late than never!

Stephanie, I am so very proud of you. As a mother with a son who suffered with epilepsy from the time he was 6 years old until 1986, which time he underwent a 17 hour brain surgery to remove scar tissue from his brain therefore correcting his seizure disorder, I know what a trying time you can and do go through.

I could write a book on how a parent deals with a child with this type of disorder, but only the person, such as yourself, can write the book about the disorder itself. I'm proud of you and what you have accomplished, not many with this disorder has done like you have.

So, you enjoy this and everything else that comes your way, cause you, my dear, deserves it.

Violet

hey, Sheila: - You're near or in Houston, right? - If you can, come to my signing on Sunday -- THIS Sunday.
Panera's, 290 and Tidwell. 1:00 - 3:00. Eastern side (north) of the feeder.
I'd love to meet you! -- Stephanie

Violet - I just want to wrap my arms around you when I hear the shoes you have had to walk in. Most don't know how to watch - but just run the other direction even if that's disguised as quietly walking out of the room. All I ever wanted was the full acceptance and compassion of others despite what they were having to watch. Today I only want to feel their hugs when a dragon resurfaces. Thank you for your compassion. - Stephanie
