One would think it would vanish from AMAZON then, right? More books cannot be being produced and sold, OR you would receive royalties, correct? ;)

My book is still being published by Publish America. However, Bushwhacked is no longer available from Amazon. Wouldn't it be nice if Amazon vanished?

Publish America has gone out of its way to kill my book. I'm for throwing a picket line around the convention.

Pacwriter,

How did you get out of your contract with PA? Many of us want to but they won't respond. Go over to absolutewrite.com.It's anti-PA central.

Ignore that "One on the way -- more coming soon" BS. It's just marketing stuff. Though it is possible they may have one or two in their warehouse. If that's the case, they have every right to sell it. Get someone to buy that copy and see what happens. I suspect after you do it'll go to 'out of stock' or 'no longer available.'

That would be my guess as to the mystery-messages on Amazon...they have one or two in the warehouse...

At a recent Barnes and Noble signing, they checked their warehouse, and there were 4-5 copies in stock...rather interesting...

Also interesting...at that B&N, they give all orders (for my book) 20% off...if someone buys it at B&N.com, it's full price...

Ahhhhhhh...

easiest way to take care of that - list one of your own copies as "used" and "autographed" if you wish...

*shrug*

I checked out the Amazon "bookseller" method...they take a percentage, as well as a fixed amount per sale...it just wasn't cost effective for my book...I was also a bit perplexed at how they worked the shipping costs...

I prefer offering my book for $10 (nice round number, and almost $7 off), and $1.50 shipping in the US, through my website...works out pretty well...here locally, I charge $11.50 (to keep it all equal), and sold 3 copies this week...reminds me, I need to sign a copy tonight...

Howdy Sheryl...how's it going?

By the way Sheryl (since I can't post on the PA board, and don't have an e-mail for you):

"silly question - for those of you who have taken your own books to the store, what math do you use/do as far as what the store gets; you get and how it's done by the end of the day?"

Most of the time, you have to negotitate a percentage the store will take (some stores require set percentages, so beware), just as if they were stocking the books "on consignment"...sometimes I've been able to get the stores to discount the price, and still eek out a profit for myself. Just make sure you keep track of how much you paid for your books, and how much you'll be receiving through the event...so you don't lose money...if a store won't work with you, $@%# 'em...

Have a good one.
