Exactly, Kevin. I am pretty much over my PA experience as well. Every now and then I feel compelled to say something, but mostly I'm working on new material. I've been twice published since then (newest release coming next month) and have another lined up for the summer, so I've got better things to do than lament over one bad business decision. I have also moved on from the PA experience. Some things I liked about "my experience" (not everyone has gone through the same thing) and some things I didn't. Being basically ignored after trying to work hard to promote my book was pretty much the final straw. I'm not through promoting Graven Images, but my main focus is somewhere else. I cringe when people who were published by PA eons ago still complain constantly. After all, you shouldn't live your life stuck in one place, but I really want to make certain that Mindsight is a place where authors who have recently become discouraged feel comfortable enough to share. I think the more "seasoned" PA authors need to be mindful of the freshness of their feelings. I also feel that we should respect those who have chosen PA and know the challenges they will face. That is, after all, their choice. As long as they weren't told some fairy tale that makes them believe their books are going to be readily available in bookstores across the country, and they understand that their books are priced higher than similar titles from other POD publishers, AND that compared to other POD publishers their royalty amount is quite a bit smaller, it is their business what publisher they choose! We all have freedom of choice in this thing. Some authors may not be able to come up with the several hundred dollars other PODs charge. I still am quite uncomfortable with some of the strong arm tactics I see coming from PA. Just doesn't seem very professional to me, but hey, that's me! So...I say let's get on with our careers, but be open to anyone who is newer and needs to vent a little. Seems the right thing to do. I also would encourage us to see each other more as "authors" and less as "PA" or "Non-PA." Sheesh, I doubt seriously that authors published by say, Random House, call themselves "Random House Authors!" They are....AUTHORS! Nancy

I feel pretty much the same way as Nancy does. I don't want to rehash all the problems I had with PA, I want to forget about it, and move on. However, I understand how those who fall into the recently disappointed and frustrated category need to vent those frustrations and disappointments. I know I did, at length, until I got sick of the whole thing and finally let it go. For me, now, rehashing it, just brings it all back and makes me sad, angry, and disappointed all over again. Then I have to go through the whole letting go process all over, and that's no fun. blessings, Kitty |

A big welcome aboard to all of those whom I may have missed during the last few weeks. I've been avoiding some areas (non-confrontational), and another big upset at the office has kept me busy and working late. Not to mention the 8pm-midnight typing sessions on the release due out in May by another long-term forum member, Gloria Davidson Marlow. A fantastic work of fiction by an amazing artist of words, THE BUTTERFLY GAME promises to be a page-turner to anyone who dares begin to read it. Okay, so that HAS to be the absolute FIRST shameless plug I have been guilty of in my more than 2 years on this board. Sue me. On a serious note...I'm not kidding, folks. You'll do yourselves a world of injustice to miss out on this upcoming novel! Okay, I promise I'm done plugging. Really! Honestly!!!! Well...okay...I'm done until I have that beautiful package in my hands (and Gloria has hers) and THEN, well, watch out folks. I may become as addicted to spreading the word as Shrewsy. (g) Anyhow, back to what I was saying, a BIG welcome to all of you, and I know that with an open mind and a willing heart, you will find yourselves very welcome in this place. Later, LA www.authorsinkbooks.com LaurieAnne

Hi, Trina... I've always known you as Tygree on the other board. We've talked a coupla times. I know most of you folks, like some of you. Some of you I really like, some endure. Kinda like life, here. Don't you agree. I sneak over here now and again, take names and leave. Just kidding. You do seem to have an interesting, articulate and motley group here. So, if you don't mind, I may just drive in the stakes and plant my tent. Laurel, your review is just days away. Lynn Price... love ya girl. Kevin, Todd, Bill -- a big howdy. |

Trina ~ Love ya, too, especially for loving my humor. Todd, Todd, Todd... I'm fine. Y usted? I haven't heard from you since you had that little medical procedure (I don't remember what it was, though I'm fairly certain it wasn't a vasectomy.) But,now that I'm on that subject, a little story... I remember when I got my vasectomy, about 30 years ago, that the doctor had called my wife and me into his office before the procedure. He was a very solemn MD and he wanted to alert us as to the seriousness of the procedure. It was just that, at that time, it was considered irreversible. Anyway, after he told us that, he wanted to assure us that it was an extremely simple procedure. Now, I can't express how serious, somber and straight-faced this doctor was when he told my wife and me, "All we do is take this little piece of vas and..." Before he could finish, my wife looked at me and I at her and we erupted in laughter. Now, I ask you, Todd -- wouldn't you? Jay

As long as he wasn't in the middle of performing the procedure... :-) But no, I think my wife would be extremely upset if they'd performed a vasectomy...heh. And then I would be upset... because as any married man knows, when momma ain't happy, poppa ain't happy... at least I think that's the way the saying goes... Are you ever going to get me a copy of your newsletter, friend? ;-) |

I'm thinking the newsletter will be out about mid-April, Todd. My ardor has kinda cooled along with my marketing enthusiasm for "The Dead Of Winter." Any part of the newsletter you're interested in? Of course, it never will be up to the quality of Artistic Layout of yours -- but that comes with lack of computer expertise... and the fact that you're go-o-o-o-od! Jay |

I haven't yet seen a copy of your newsletter, so don't know which part I'd be interested in... :-) Thanks for the kudos...hopefully I'll get something else out to plug, as like you, I've lost marketing enthusiasm for my book...until then, I just have to plug other folks...and subcontract out articles like I did this past month... :-D |

Despite hijacking being a serious offense, I accept your apology. Fortunately, hijacking doesn't carry anywhere near as stiff a penalty as people get when they dare to disagree with our esteemed leader. Be careful, it's dark in the dungeon. When he invited you to email him and discuss it, you must have decided to take a different tactic. I'm your biggest fan, Fred. I really like your writing. But I've known CEW longer and better than I have you. It makes me very uncomfortable when he's libeled on the board he owns and maintains - or on any other board for that matter.

Fred, You're blaming the wrong person. You weren't banned by one vote alone. In fact, to be honest, C.E. was put into the position of having to respond to the requests of many other Mindsighters. Get it? You won't make friends by attacking C.E. here. As usual, your tactics are not well thought out. You seem to just hit and run, thinking you're making some kind of point. I don't think the point you ARE making shines a good light on you. Perhaps it just helps to point out more clearly why you were "exited" in the first place. Please, get a clue and knock it off. Nancy

Fred, There is now a yahoogroup set up for the purpose of giving folks who couldn't work and play well with others on discussion boards a forum to complain, whine, cry, and give their revisionist views on how they were beat up and abused when all they did was give facts as a public service for their fellow writers. I am sure you would like it there very much. As a matter of fact, whining about how standards of behavior are really a form of censorship seems to be the actual board topic. Anyway, I am sure you would find it a great place to air your disgruntlement about this site, PA, and pretty much anything you want as long as you promise not to move on or pursue further success away from your past grudges. They will eat you alive if you try that. This is not a group that...embraces success. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/writingfacts/

Fred, get off it, you are beginning to sound like an idiot who is out to hurt the very people who have liked you, your writing, and put up with you. People just don't like a constant rant, and you are rather constant in that attitude. There are many people who are regulars on this board and some of them get really tired of the constant battle cry that you seem to always push. Don't you get it? We appreciate you and like you for who you are and even find good things in some of your posts, but many of us (not all) are really tired of always having to listen to, or read your constant mission statement. It seems that is the only thing you really are consistent on, is your hatred and wanting to get back at PA. There are many other things going on in this world and much more interesting conversation to be had, than always reading a rant about PA and how they wronged you. We all know that, and are sorry it happened to you, but unfortunately, none of us can do anything about it for you. Many of us have been in the soup with PA just as (almost) much as you have been. We don't have the power anything to help you or to get you out of it, or to make them give you back your book. And CE didn't ban you, you took yourself off of this board, so get real, OK!!! It was your choice to leave, why harrangue us with your own choice? If you want to post here, be a good guy and start nicely and fresh and we will welcome you back, but we don't all like to see what you are doing right now. Spamming us with your nasty attitude and banter about it is not nice or playing in the sandbox fairly. We really don't want that sort of stuff all over every thread. No one really wanted to have you taken off the board, it came down to a choice of things and you wouldn't let up, so it was you that got a note, and even then you wouldn't consider that the board belongs to a private person, who really shouldn't have to put up with anyone degrading the quality of what he himself is putting forth and trying to do on this board. It is his money he pays out every month so that we can have a place to come and vent, get things off our chests, and get on with life. Please do that yourself, (not the venting part, you have already done enough of that to last 4 lifetimes) but the getting on with the rest of your life and becoming active on some other points of writing and communicating to/with the rest of us. Remember there really is much more to LIFE than just PA. And I like you, so I am telling you this out of friendship from me. Claudia |

Fred's membership is in suspension. i.e.: he cannot post using his former username and password unless/until he is reinstated. Right now, I just don't see that happening. At the rate he is tumbling downhill, it's more likely that he will be banned. But, as always, there's a lot to like about Fred - none of it has been around here since he chose to leave, though. CEW |
