Just thought some of you might like to know about a new contest. It's sponsored by the Brainerd Writers Alliance in Brainerd, MN, which is the group I've belonged to for several years and now chair. We are tackling a contest for the first time in hopes of 1)expanding our membership 2) gathering works that may be suitable for future anthologies we plan to publish in short story / essay and poetry, and 3) promoting our art form. You do not have to reside in Brainerd or Minnesota to enter. You retain all rights when entering the contest; if we want your work for an anthology, we will make an offer for purchase of rights. The prizes this first time out are modest, as is the entry fee, which allows entry in multiple categories. Take a look at contest details at: www.geocities/garyosha/BWA.html Please direct questions via email to: brainerdwriters@hotmail.com Thanks, Gary

Laurel, add ".com" after geocities in the URL and it will work. Thanks for the heads-up, Gary! Looks like a nice little contest. I will try to get something submitted. Nope. Still didn't work. It says the page I am looking for cannot be found even with the com behind geocities. |

Hi Gary ~ Tell me, does the prohiition against prior published material mean e-zine as well as publication in the conventional paper medium? Thanks, Jay |

Jay, thanks for a very good question, which we neglected to address on the website, which has been updated to include an explanation. FYI: published, for this contest's purposes, means that an author has received monetary compensation for the work, without regard to media form. Hope that clears things up and that we'll see an entry from you. Gary BWA Writers Contest Website: www.geocities.com/garyosha/BWA.html |
