Enough lurking already!!!

The formal registration is being processed, but I'll go ahead and make my formal introduction now. As many of you know, I've been "lurking" for the past few months on this board and have decided to make Mindsight a home away from home.

My name is Scott F. Falkner. I am a writer specializing in horror and dark fantasy. I have one book that's making the rounds, a second one in post-production, and am about 1/2 way through my third. I'm 31 years old, married and father of one.

I've silently observed MANY writer's boards over the last few years and have been nothing but impressed by the tone, professionalism and wit of Mindsight's posters. This is a pleasant and insightful place to spend a rare few minutes of spare time, and I usually leave knowing something that I didn't before I stopped by.

Anyway, I'll stop dithering. I just wanted to say "Hi" officially, and thanks for having me.

If any of you have any spare moments, feel free to check out my new site, www.scottfalkner.com

My friend Ren has done a FANTASTIC job with the site in my opinion, but I'd also like to hear yours. There's a few samples of my work over there, (as well as some of my artwork), so go on over and have a looksee!

I'll be posting with you later, and thanks again!

Hi Scott, and welcome to Mindsight. I agree, this is one of the best forums going. There is always someone willing to share what they've learned, be it good or bad.

Your site is very well done, lots to look at. Just an FYI, your Links section doesn't link! I was clicking and clicking and nothing happened!

Take care, see you around the boards!

Thanks for the "official" welcome, guys! :-)

Jenn,
Yup, we know that the "links" section isn't off the ground yet. As stated in the "Welcome" on the main page, I'm still deciding on what pages I want to link to--(CE, I'm sure we'll be in touch!).

Scott,

An official welcome to you! No, make that a formal welcome, as I just post here, and am in no way a moderator or anything like that.

I'll echo everyone's statements about your really nice website...BTW...if you're looking for a good website to link to don't forget the websites of literary phenomenon Diana Hignutt (2004 Spectrum Award nominee-finalist and all around great person).

Hi Scott. Welcome. You're not related to Bill are you? I don't mean Bill Nelson. I was referring to Bill Faulkner. I note you spell your name a bit differently, so guess it's doubtful. Very interesting site.

Mary,
The first time I got the "Are you related to William Faulkner?" question was in third grade. The question came from a substitute teacher, and I didn't have the faintest idea what he was talking about.

As near as my family can figure (Aunt Norma is the family Geneologist) I'm from a Norwegian/English brood that originally spelled their name Falkoner. When the ancestors came to the states they changed it to Falkner. When a branch of the family in the east and the south thought that "Falkner" wasn't quite distinguished enough, they threw in the "u". "Faulkner". Who knows, maybe Bill is a long-lost uncle... but I sincerely doubt it. I'm not sure I'd want to be associated with those uppity southern Faulkners anyhow... though the royalties might be nice. :-) (And somehow I don't think that William would go for the sort of stories I write!)

Thanks again for all the uber-cool welcomes.

Hi everybody,

This is a very informal introduction. I guess I'm the new kid on the writers' block. My name is Lois, I don't know why Sapphire was so appealing, but whatever. I've been enjoying the forum for quite some time and finally decided to join in. II have been writing children's fiction for a long time but I'm ready to change genres. I think I might like to try non-fiction, but I need a few classes and they are hard to find. Anyway, I'm looking forward to a happy experience on the Mindsight forum.

Thanks for listening

Hello Scott and welcome to fantasy island... oh wait, that is the wrong speech... just a sec while I go through the cue cards.... Ok, here it is...

Welcome to Mindsight Forum. This welcome in no way obligates you to support the Albanian communist movement currently taking place. All that is ask of you is that you throw away your paper coffee cup before you leave. C.E. spent a fortune last year on janitorial services.

Scott, are you sure that warm feeling is real? Or might it be related to the paper coffee cup you hold too tightly in your grasp such that it has sprung a leak in the seal and appears to be fond of leaving a trail of fluid down the front of your crisp, white button-down?

LOL

hi, pretty lady.

as always, i pop in and out - now you see me, now you don't.

things here are going very well, thanx for asking. i just got back from two vacations and started searching for a new agent while i was gone. family life will always be fun and exciting, at least until the kids turn into teens. i figure that's why they start off as babies - they invest a lot of cuteness into the parental bank. once they hit thirteen or so, they begin making huge withdrawals, hopefully not bankrupting their potential to make it into their twenties.
heh heh.

nice seing you as well, joy.

Thank you for the compliment . Mark, how do you get 2 vacations? And working in the health field?

While you're still lurking here, please let me know if you are ever planning on a book signing in the New England area. We're neighbors, remember? Think B&N at the Newington mall in Portsmouth NH. Not many fellow authors other than you that live in the NE, and I have yet to meet anyone live.

I know what you mean about kids and that cuteness thing. Dang creatures come equipped with those huge upper orifices and then begin to speak. Cuteness levels start dropping from that point onward.

unofficially, i work a ton of hours, take shifts from people when they don't want to work them and do my best to stay on my boss's good side. i asked for a favor and she let it go. that's it.

drop me an e-mail about book signings - edible_eye@yahoo.com - we can talk about it offline. i don't want to suck up anymore of scott's thread.
