OK, so like, I'm about to receive my final galley proof, all corrections made, and I know this is around the time I'm supposed to start thinking about sending these proofs out as review copies. So, any suggestions on where I should send these puppies? "Undo the Deed" is a time travel story with a child abuse theme; I guess that would put it in sci-fi/fantasy...can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hey, I'm tired of reading my own book. Time for other people to read it! :)

Hi Adam

and welcome to the forum. Someplace around here within the past two weeks, or so, somebody posted a link to a web site that lists all kinds of places to get your book reviewed.

Sorry, I don't remember exactly where, but somebody else might. Or, you can read through the volumes of post and try and find it. I am sure it was within the past two weeks, so that should narrow it down some for you. I know a lot of work, but easier than what I went through. Didn't know about the web site and did a 15 hour or so search on the Internet. Found hundreds, but was a lot of work.

Just to warn you, make sure you check your final proofs as well as you did the others. There can still be mistakes and you don't get to see them again to make sure they are made. I worried for months that Chapter 24 was still going to be on the same page as Chapter 23 ended on when the book was published. I had a hard time finding people who would review without a publication date, so see if you can't get an estimate on that from the author support team.

Otherwise, good luck. :)

AMJ:

Check, fix, and then ask to see the next proof copy. That's the only way you'll really know that the corrected copy is on site.

Best,

Vickie

Dennis - getting even with a nun, hmmm....I can relate to that. Her name was Sister Mary Catherine, and I will never forget that witch.

By the way, great interview, great and interesting questions. I will have to rethink my interview questions for my column, now. My seem pretty boring by comparison.

Great interview Dennis!

I'll be able to say "I knew you when!"

How'd you come up with your dog's name?

I think it's so interesting that your relative could tell it was your book by the lingo. When I write I can usually hear the voice as it would be said (?). The lead female is always my voice, of course, but I can "imagine" the others quite graphically.

It's a pleasure to be acquainted with you and so many other talented writers. I feel blessed.

Best,

Vickie

FYI... Vickie

After assessing the risk of a lawsuit and determining that it would be relatively low, I decided to use the names of actual dogs with whom I have shared my home. I figure on including one of my canines in each book but it ain't gonna be like those "cat" mysteries. So I guess that my stories will carry an element of "non-fiction."

The dog mentioned in the interview is a black and tan German Shepherd and he had a white "T" on his chest when he was a pup. His mother's name was "Fraulein Gretta" so I kept that as part of his registered name. (The AKC is big on ancestry) Hence; "Fraulein Gretta's T-Bone"

It was a fascinating interview and most definitely not boring.
Professional, yet with a human touch.
Good job!

Neat article, Dennis. Your personality really comes through.

I agree about all the wonderful friends I've made through writing. Wouldn't trade them for anything.

(Even if Kitty always thinks I'm mad at her...LOL!)
