Boy, I'd sure hate to try to sell that to today's ladies. However, I think it is an excellent piece of advice.

My mom sold that to us...when I'm a housewife, I try to follow most of that advice. Letting him stay out all night is a little questionable. But I find when I stay home, it is easy to focus on him. After all, his arrival home in the afternoon is what I look forward to all day. I planned my whole day around his homecoming and it was like he had been away for days instead of hours. I loved being a housewife. Gloria Gloria Davidson Marlow **The Butterfly Game***Shades of Silence***Flowers for Megan** |

Gloria, In all seriousness, I don't understand why some (many) women find it to be a nasty term. I can't think of a more challenging undertaking than managing a household, especially when children are involved. It may be the most important job on the planet. Sure it's hard, thankless work most of the time, but, so are many jobs the husbands hold. Some men might be happy to change with their "housewives." I was a single parent (starting at age seven) for nearly eight years and held down both roles. I don't know which job was more challenging or rewarding. My hats off to the housewives of the world. The lack of focus on this by women has probably caused more problems in our society than anything else. When moma left the house, we invented the 'latchkey kid." Pitiful! |

Interesting piece, Fred. Where in the world did you dig that up?? Actually, I've hired a stacked teenage nymphette to greet my husband at the door when he comes home at night, which has greatly cut down on noise control issues, cleanliness of home/children issues, or whether or not he has a cold/warm drink/fire to enjoy/pillow to plop his butt on or dog crap to step over. And they say women of today aren't resourceful... |
