| | Monday, April 29, 2002 - 06:32 pm This is sort of a re-hash but it's such fertile ground, there must be hundreds of hints that people can add. Give-away promotional items. I recently bought a laminating machine, brand new in the box, on eBay for $35.00. I've been autographing and laminating bookmarks for two days now. Another idea is to reduce a photo of your book cover to a small size, print it, laminate it and then punch a hole in one corner for a keychain. (I know a woman who did that with the X-Ray of her hip replacement) Laminated postcard size pictures of your book cover would go great in press kits too. There are some great imaginations in this gang. Feel free to join in with your give-away inspirations.

| | Monday, May 06, 2002 - 08:36 pm Here's an idea I stumbled across. Up to 250 free business cards, you only pay S & H. If you want to check it out try http://www.vistaprint.com I'm getting some for giveaways, but modifying them somewhat. Instead of a business name, I put my book title, and below it a little blurb about the book. Then of course in the address spots, isbn and contact info. They look pretty cool. Jenn

| | Monday, May 06, 2002 - 09:14 pm Jenn, That's a good tip. I got my business cards from them. You can download your bookcover and design your own business cards. It costs more - but it really wasn't expensive. These guys do a really super job. I'm very happy with my cards. Nancy

| | Monday, May 06, 2002 - 09:19 pm Dennis, Might I offer up a suggestion to that? If you or someone you know has a scanner, sign your name on a transparency, scan it in, and superimpose it onto the bookmark you are already printing. You could save yourself some hand aches. LA

| | Monday, May 06, 2002 - 09:28 pm For me Nancy, its not worth always getting cards from Vista. I'm Canadian, so fighting with exchange and all. But the free ones are not bad. Thought that for giveaways, they'd be a bit different. Nice too. Jenn

| | Wednesday, May 08, 2002 - 11:51 am I just found a new promo tool on the PA site, for anyone published through PA. They have now made it possible to send e-postcards of your book cover. This is wonderful, because there are places, such as writer's net, who charge up to 75.00 to make e-postcards of your cover available. The good thing is that anyone can go in and send one. Doesn't just have to be the author. I know that when my book becomes available, I'll be using this feature. It's a nice way to announce/remind people your book is out there. Jenn
