Hello Mindsighters!

I haven't checked in here for awhile, because I haven't had anything interesting to report, but I do now. After waiting over three years for my publisher to get around to publishing the sequel to my SF novel Soldier of the Legion, without result, I took things in my own hands last month and decided to self-publish. In a little over a month my sequel was published, and it's a beautiful product. It made its debut at MarsCon in mid-January and I had good sales, mostly from people who had been waiting years for the sequel.

The purpose of this post is not to advertise my book but to let y'all know my experience with BookLocker which is a POD publisher that does paperbacks and e-books. These folks are very author friendly and nobody beats them in reasonable prices or in efficiency or in author benefits. I've just started with them and I've already got an on-line link that shows me every book sold and a running count of the money I make from the sales. I found them on the web and also noted that they were rated number One in a book listing 48 self-publishing POD sites (The Fine Print of Self-Publishing, by Mark Levine). The place runs like a well-oiled machine. Publisher Angela Hoy answers her e-mails within one or two days, unlike my previous publisher which could take months to answer and sometimes didn't answer at all. You can find BookLocker at http://publishing.booklocker.com/

I still have the greatest respect for my old publisher that did my first book and did an amazing full-cast audio of it as well. However I simply couldn't wait any longer to publish my sequel. It's called The Black March and you can order it at www.booklocker.com/books/2771.html More details are available at www.soldierofthelegion.com So, strange things happen in this world. I never thought I'd go from a "traditional" publisher to self-publishing, but here we are. It's a great feeling, being in charge of your own book's fate instead of waiting for someone else to make a decision. So, if you are self-publishing, don't feel you are missing out. The only thing is, you have to be able to market your own book, and I've been doing that all along.

Best wishes to everybody at MindSight!

Regards, Marshall
