With many getting the vast amount of their news via the internet, I would think the internet (via blogs and book sites) would be a boon for book reviews. Granted, as you can see from what goes on at Amazon, there's little vetting that goes on...other than public opinion of the reviewer (or the review process, such as with reviews posted at Amazon). How many authors were selected by real publishers after being profiled on the now-defunct POD-dy blog? Mindsight Moderator Aston's Blog |

Curled Up, http://www.curledup.com, seems to be better organized than most big city newspaper book review pages and at .4 million hits per year their stats are definitely first rate. Possibly that is because they have been around longer than most online book review websites. The downside is that they do not review ebooks and their ad policies indicate that they are every bit as corrupt as the book reviewers who work for the newspapers. http://www.dunganbooks.com |
