I met a delightful young writer the other night named Daniel Trask who spoke to our local writers' group as one of the stops on his "16,000 mile-48-states-in-14-weeks" self-financed book tour. I'd like to help him out with getting reviews for his second novel, DMR, which is a fictionalized account of six weeks he spent working in a group home for mentally retarded individuals.

This inspiring young man has single-handedly obtained readings at libraries in cities as big as Boston, New York, Chicago and Philadelphia, and he's already managed to get his self-published book in over 50 bookstores across the country. He read us the first chapter, and it was entertaining, funny, and well-written.

I know some of you review for MyShelf and MBR, so if you'd be willing to give this hard-working young man a review, please tell me how you'd like him to contact you so I can pass on the information to him.

His blog is called "DMR's Road Trip" and can be found here.

Thanks!

With those kinds of numbers solely on a self-published book, one would think the big publishers would take notice.

Good luck to him. Myself, I'm not sure how one could expect to make any kind of return on a national tour of that magnitude.

He certainly has the right attitude, though, judging from the blog. So, hopefully it'll work out well for him.

Todd, he said he's also using the book tour as research for a future book about traveling across the country! Savvy guy, that one. Smart and funny too. The only bad thing about him I could see was that he's a Red Sox fan!
