    C. E. Winterland | Wednesday, June 05, 2002 - 12:32 am Hello everyone. Just a little note: At 7:04pm tonight (I was away at a concert ) I received an e-mail from the forum that it had automatically shut itself down due to a "Disc quota" problem (which would normally mean that the website is full). I checked with the server, and I have about 1.5 times the amount of space still available on the site to use than what is currently being used, so I disabled the site lock. As I'm typing this message though, I am noticing that the forum is operating very slowly. It looks as though there shall be some imminent cleanup happening in the near future... I'll have to think about how to do it, but please let me know if the forum is running slowly for you as well. Thanks, CEW |
Nancy Mehl | Wednesday, June 05, 2002 - 08:32 am On threads that have a lot of archived messages, it does run a little slowly. But most of the time, it isn't anything major. Nancy |
Vickie Adkins | Wednesday, June 05, 2002 - 11:18 am CE, I tried to post late last night and received this error message: This discussion forum has been automatically disabled due to server difficulties to preserve the integrity of files on the board. The board administrator should resolve this problem and will enable the board when the problem has been resolved. The board administrtor should log in to administration for more details. We apologize for the inconvenience. Vickie |
LaurieAnne | Wednesday, June 05, 2002 - 05:20 pm CE, You can trim out some of my workshop threads to open up some of your memory. Actually, I have downloaded everything up to the current posting of Jaded, so feel free to take all of the others out. (Idea Swap Meet, The Scorpion Agency: The Unknown Soldiers, Darkness and Dreams, Knights In White Satin...I think that's all of them. If there are more, yank them, too. All I really need up for now is Jaded.) As for speed, I now have a new system, so everything is moving faster for me than it was. The ones that bog down are as Nancy said: those with archives. (The more archives, the longer it takes to load.) That said, LA |
Nancy Marie | Thursday, June 06, 2002 - 10:58 am Hi C.E. - things here seem to be moving along at about the same as usual. Also, feel free to cut all my posts as needed. Except please leave the buttercups query letter thread up for a few more days. I need to copy down the suggestions and editing remarks for future reference. And I'll try to get that done by Monday latests. smiles and blessings, Kitty |
    C. E. Winterland | Friday, June 07, 2002 - 06:40 am Hello again and good morning. I just want to say that where forum clean up is concerned I have a couple of ideas and none of them includes deleting posts on the workshop. The archive sections are the big hitters, and my plan is to change them into straight HTML and plain text pages so that they do not take up so much room. I will be working a bit on this over the weekend. Just to make it clear, the site is not running out of space, and the message was generated by the forum itself for some reason. I think it was primarily a glitch, but a little clean up won't hurt. CEW |
Vickie Adkins | Friday, June 07, 2002 - 11:57 am CE, You're welcome to take off any of my queries/critiques. I just posted them for opinions/suggestions. Vickie |
    C. E. Winterland | Saturday, June 08, 2002 - 10:38 am Well, I haven't done much yet, except to reindex everything, and it seems to be working faster already. I think some data was corrupted in the "Publishing Message Board", which was giving me a little trouble this morning. Anyhow, I'm working on a scheme to clean it all up even further. CEW |
    C. E. Winterland | Saturday, June 08, 2002 - 12:49 pm Well, I'm done tinkering for today. The board has stopped cooperating with me, and I'm going to let it rest a bit. If it refuses to cooperate later, I will have to kick it (hard) - I hate it when technology refuses to cooperate. Let me know if the performance is a little better. CEW |
