After sweating one's ass off at work all day, is there nothing better than 4 beers in 35 minutes?
I think not.

I could think of some things, but in the interest of board decorum, I'll refrain...

I tried to respond to this thread, but I could not make my response read where anyone could tell that I remotely liked my job... I'll just say that I agree with you, Steven!
Now I have to go and separate two fighting children again. Oh yea!

Um, yeah, what Fred said.
I think.
Let's hope today is better.
Great when the weather warms up a tad outside and the plant can't figure out how to shut off the heaters....and in the summer they cannot figure out the vents...and the wonder why we drink...

all the while putting other folks books together....
and some say there is no God or Devil.

When I was a kid I always wondered why Noah got naked after drinking the wine. I don't worry about it anymore. What's good enough for Noah is good enough for me.

What I've always wondered is why so many uber-religious folks get upset about the violence and sex on TV and in movies...when the Bible is filled to the brim with many such stories...Lot and his daughters is always one that comes to mind...ick.

Yeah, lots of tales of violence, paganism, incest, vblood, murder etc....

The noah drinking story is one alot of folsk miss.

That and the men of Sodom wanting the Angels more than virgin girls...

Or Saul calling up the spirit of Samuel with the witch of Endor...

Or Jesus PASSING through a crowd that was ready to stone him (some say he altered his density and passed right through them.)

The Bible records the full spectrum of human behavior - everything from pious to perverted. Since it has all been done before, we get nowhere testing the limits. Religion is a regulating force that prods us to hit the brakes before we spin out.

Well put.
It is true that Islam united the scattered peoples of Arabia, worshiping small tribal dieties, into one mass....giving them a religion, a language etc...

I can post my Islam/NASCAR theory, but would get lynched...even though it is funny.....
anyone who wants to read it can write me :-)

Fred,
Sometimes you absolutely astound me with the insights you come up with. It is like a great flash and this wonderful mind of yours says something really brilliant. I am glad to know you. Sometimes you really piss me off, but then other times, you come off with something so stupifying, anyway, suffice to say, again, I am glad that you are here.

And by the way, you too Stephen, but then again, we all expect great brilliancy from you. Because you have shown it to us through all that you write, for you are always the one who deep thinks everything, so it is not so astounding when you come up with some of those same things.....

It's like a thunderstorm. The brilliant flashes tend to be short-lived. Far too much of the time I'm in the dark and all wet.

Claudia, you are too kind.

I dunno, though. I suppose it is like a porn star or a super nova...every once and a while it comes out pretty spectacular, yet at other times the results are unruly and confounding.

I like Fred's thunderstorm one better.

“Religion is a regulating force that prods us to hit the brakes before we spin out.”

I don’t know about that Fred, I’m under the impression that quite a few people put the pedal to the metal instead.

Used as a noun, I agree with Harry. Used more in the sense of an adjective to describe the soul, I agree with Fred.

Up until 5 minutes ago I was looking forward to meeting many of you at the Mindsight Convention and buying Steven that beer I promised him. Now it's no longer possible. Banning writers for saying what they think is too PA for me. Anyway, I wish all of you the best of luck. Since I'm the odd man out, I'm leaving the board for a while.
