The Dixie Chicks concert in Houston has been cancelled until further notice due to lack of ticket sales activity.
The people have spoken.
Boom! There went a career...
Hooray for Hollywood. George Clooney, Barbra Streisand, Michael Moore, take note.

It has always puzzled me why anyone in the entertainment industry where careers are incredibly vulnerable would stand in front of an almost equally divded public and choose sides.

We all have the right to speak our minds on political preferences but there are ramifications no matter which side of the spectrum you endorse. It's just not smart business when politics isn't the business you're in.

Choices are our right and in most cases they're a private matter.

That's why they put curtains on voting booths.

Personally, I think it couldn't have happened any better to a more worthy group of sound-offs. I guess that they just don't give a damn about how they are perceived by the general public who has been buying their music. They are just in it for the clout and political ambition to decide things that they know nothing about for the people that they are supposed to be singing for.

I guess that they really haven't made that much of an impact, as the public sector has deemed to show them that their brain power isn't all that great, by not giving them their due and supporting their concerts. Great for the public and the collective voice we all have in some matters.

Maybe we could show Streisand, Cruise, Clooney, Jolie-Pitt and many of the others the same way and then they would start keeping their thoughts and traps shut while out in our midst. Possibly they might even start to recognize that we don't like what we hear coming from them and that they are in serious jeopardy, and then, they just might respect the general populace once more, as so many of them have forgotten that it was our dollars and voices that made them to be the people they are in most cases. (I realize that is just a pipe dream of mine, but I can dream.)

What is bad is that these people are seen by the rest of the world as "representatives" of America. And why is always the mouthy ones who think the opposite of most Americans? There are a lot of actors and actresses who are down-to-earth and regular people with thoughts on religion, politics, etc., but you will rarely hear them get up and act like they need to enlighten the masses on these things.

I still say the Dixie Chicks would have recovered if they hadn't been in another country when she decided to say the things she said.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill said something negative about the president's and the rest of the government's reaction to the Hurricane Katrina debacle. Why aren't they losing fans (they sold out two shows here a few weeks ago, while the Dixie Chicks don't even get radio time anymore)? Because the majority of Americans think there was at least some problem with how that was handled. Plus, there attitude was different. They weren't embarrassed to be Americans, they were just questioning things and stating the problems they saw. Plus, they are both from Mississippi so they had some basis for giving their opinion.
