Man, I've been so busy lately trying to wrap everything up and prepare for the start of the new school year. We start on the 10th (this Thursday), which seems a tad early to me, but there you are. My son will be 5th grade and my daughter will be 2nd grade. Anyone else gearing up?

We went out and got our school supplies last night. I'll have two in this year. One in fifth grade on in K. That will leave me and my little princess for the afternoons.

Boy, you guys start much earlier than I do. I wish we started that early. We don't get started until the 5th of Sept. Dennis is going to be a freshman. Willie is going into the fourth grade. Time sure flies.
I teach 9th-12th graders. I am just hoping for a very good year!

Well... Does it count if two of my grandchildren are entering their third year of college?

We start on the 15th. I have one in 7th grade (ACK--the horrors of Middle School!!) and one who's a senior. Our county finally participated in a 3-day tax holiday for school supply purchases this year, so yay!

I ventured out on our 'tax-free weekend' one year. I still remember it nightmarishly vividly, but then again it was only 3 years ago, and scars take time to heal...
I'll just say that an 8.25% savings off a hundred dollars is NO WAY NEAR ENOUGH of an incentive for me to ever justify going through THAT again. In my life. Paaaasssssss!!!
...for brevity's sake I won't go into details...comprehenda?

Congrats, Grandpa Tom!

Sheila, I had to go out amongst the masses for the girls' uniforms, but I made sure I waited until the middle of the night to go to Walmart for their supplies. I'd much rather deal with negotiating the aisles filled with new stock than the crowds of inconsiderate, clueless, angry school shoppers.

We get a longer reprieve out here. OUr kids don't start until the week after labor day. Then, for some bizarre reason, they start on a Friday and then have the weekend off.

Side note, the schools out here are doing this weird staggered start, every other Wednesday, school starts an hour later to give the teachers time to catchup on projects. Last year they took a whole day once a quarter.

(Out here is in Oregon in case any of you were wondering.)
