And I use that term with the utmost respect. Especially since I need help. My wife and I just bought a new coumputer and it can burn DVD's. We got the software to do this and asked the clerk which kind of dvd's to buy. He told us dvd-r's. I don't know the divverence between the DVD-r's and the DVD+R's. Can some tell me if it is me or did the clerk tell me the wrong thing?

he told you right look for those marked on the label DVD - R +

many movies are copy protected and you will waste expensive DVD's trying to burn them. There is software that has built in security breaking items. DVD-FAB is the best on the market at 59.00. You can download from their site.

I use HP DVD's because the Memorex has issues with my DVD burner.

Are there copy protections on videos as well? Those are the ones I'm trying to capture. Got tired of the twenty minute videos.

video tape has no protections
BUT
copying video tape is not as simple as it sounds. It has to become digital and processing is time consuming. To put a video tape movie "two hours or so" often will not fit on a DVD without using compression software and even then it may still be too big for a single DVD.

Oh just because it takes about seven hours to process. That's with watching time. Doesn't this thing have a high speed dub button?

The patches the web sight provided seems to have done the trick.
