POSSIBLE NEW SLOGANS FOR MICHIGAN:

The one that looks like a mitten, you moron.
Where used cars from Florida bring top dollar.
No hurricanes here.
The Orange Barrel State.
So close to Canada you can hardly tell the difference.
We know the rules to euchre.
Got fudge?
Two Mystery Spots. No waiting.
Yes, the Porcupines are real mountains. (Part of the Laurentian Mountain chain, the original firmament of earth)
Soda? We say pop here, buddy.
The Midwestern "M" state without a wrestler for governor.
No riots since '67.
More than just boarded up auto plants.
Casino fever -- catch it.
Sandy beaches without severe undertow.
Happiness is a warm pasty.
Imagine an island where horse manure still litters the streets.
Water enough for any drought.
Visit Hell, Paradise, Christmas and Climax.
Birthplace of Meijer Thrifty Acres.
Where Ontario is a shortcut to New York.
Gerald Ford slept here.
It's called snow. Get used to it.
Where the names of high-toned suburbs needlessly end with "e."
Deer processing available here.
Not as flat as Indiana.
Try eating corn flakes without us.
Hardly any annoying lizards or poisonous snakes.
Big on flannel.
It's not the heat. It's the humidity.
Smoked fish sold here.
Good people with camping trailers.
We moved American history to Dearborn.
No toll roads and proud of it.
Our biggest bridge makes yours look puny.
Nearly went to war with Ohio once and will do it again if they pull
Any funny stuff.
Land of snow machines and bass boats.
#@?!* mosquitoes.
We know a place where wooden shoes are always in style.
Where lousy teams get new stadiums.
Speed limit back up to 70, so move it.

I thought it was known that for another reason.

Hardly any annoying lizards or poisonous snakes.

That's 'cus the mosquitoes ate them.

No riots since '67

My mommy still talks about her one and only police escort from city hall where she worked to home.

It's not the heat. It's the humidity.

Came to visit family once and we hit 15 days od 95+ humidity AND 95+ temp, so it's both. Saw some great lightning storms though. Bro saw lightning strike the street in front of our Aunt's house. Took us three hours to pry him off the ceiling.

At what Detroit intersection was the world's first traffic light
Installed in 1915?

Meanwhile, the town we still call home in Michigan, Ortonville, finally got a stop sign.

"OK, I'm a Michigander..."
That sounds like, "I'm an alcoholic..."
We don't hold it against you, Dennis. Hell, you've got to live somewhere.

"Where does Michigan rank internationally in the production of Dogsleds?

Well, don't get cocky, buddy-boy. We're pulling up on you for
number one, and fast. Texas dog sleds are of the finest quality, and
hand-made by illegals. The huge market for these sleds has created
over seven new jobs in the past year and increased the tax-base by
$13.54, quite a boon for us.

Toyota is now negotiating to buy out the local factory and start
competing for the first slot in dog-sleds. They run smoother over the
snow, and are much more durable.

Your unions have caused wages to go up so high, you can't compete any
more.

Detroit will soon be a has-been in dog-sled production.

My first broadcast job out of college was in Fort Wayne (Indiana), which seceded from Michigan earlier. Fort Wayne is the home of the original Pistons, originally called the Zollner Pistons because the Zollner company (which made pistons) underwrote the team. Our radio and TV stations carried their games. When the NBA was formed, and team owners were all rich guys who could afford to waste their money, the team was moved to Detroit and the Zollner was dropped.

Hey Bill
I have one son who lives in Homer, Alaska and he tells me that the folks up there are so tired about Texans whining about Alaska's statehood, they're considering dividing Alaska in half and making Texas the THIRD largest state.

Due to the popularity of the Survivor shows, the U.P. is planning to do it's own, entitled "Survivor Yooper Style".

The contestants will start in Marquette; travel down to Escanaba and on to Iron Mountain. Then they head to Ironwood and on up to Houghton/Hancock and Copper Harbor. From there they proceed back down to Baraga and Bruce Crossing. Then drive over to Crystal Falls, Sagola, Republic, up to Humboldt and head east on U.S. 41 thru Ishpeming and Negaunee and back to Marquette.

Each contestant will be driving a Pink Volvo with Illinois license plates and a large bumper sticker that reads "I'm gay. I'm a vegetarian. Bratwurst clogs your arteries. The Green Bay Packers suck. Go Bears! Pasties are high in Cholesterol. Hillary in 2008. Deer hunting is murder and I'm here to confiscate your guns!"

The 1st one to make it back to Marquette alive wins.

but.... Dennis,
There would be NO WINNER in this survivor contest, just a lot of free shots for the natives..... but I must admit the concept is a really great one. We ought to have something like that in Nevada, going from Laughlin to the Ruby Mt's, via Ely and Golcanda and Austin and the up to Jarbidge, back to Elko during the Cowboy Rodeo and up to Denio and then down into the old mining towns and over to Burning Man in the BlackRock Desert for a few thousand free poke fun at them hippie shots, during the festival, and then through Reno and down to Tonopah through the Indian nations. Wearing the same kind of signage, no one would make it back to Tonopah either. And a side note, this trip would take them all summer and if they weren't given any water or booze along the trip, no one would even be able to stand it, and they would have to drive a lawn mower, but not a John Deere, with a big flourescent flag on top so that we could all see them even in the dunes, and they would have to wear birkenstocks, so the rattlers could nibble on their toes.

I'd even watch that show.......

One foggy night, a U of M fan was heading north and a MSU
fan was driving south, while crossing a narrow bridge they hit each other
head-on, mangling both cars.

The U of M fan manages to climb out of his car and survey the damage.

He looks at his twisted car and says, "Man, I'm lucky to be alive".

Likewise the MSU fan gets out of his car uninjured, he too
feeling fortunate to have survived.

The MSU fan walks over to the U of M fan and says, "Hey, man, I think
this is a sign that we should put away our petty differences and live
as friends instead of being rivals."

The U of M fan thinks for a moment and says, "You know, you're
absolutely right! We should be friends. In fact, I'm going to see if
something else survived the wreck." The U of M fan then pops open the
trunk of his car and removed a full undamaged bottle of Jack Daniels.
He says to the MSU fan, "I think this is another sign we should
toast to our newfound friendship."

The MSU fan agrees and grabs the bottle. After sucking down half
of the bottle, he hands the bottle back to the U of M fan and says,
"Your turn".

The U of M fan calmly twists the cap back on the bottle, throws the
rest of the bottle over the bridge into the river and says, "Nah, I
think I'll just wait for the cops to show up."
