Harry, I find myself deeply embarrassed in the way I worded post #45. I in no way meant to demean any other country in the world, and offer my heartfelt apologies to anyone I offended with said comments. In hindsight, I should have phrased my thoughts to better clarify the meaning they carried. I do agree that the nationality we are born into is not of our choosing. However, what we choose to do as a citizen of our respective countries is. Long and short, it's not when you're born, or when you die...but what you do between those events that define you as a person. Such as it is with patriotism. I also agree that we are all children of life. Driving trucks, I have had the opportunity to meet people from all over this country, and in some instances, the world. In doing so, I have come to realize that we are all one people, and thus I will apologize for giving the impression otherwise. The comments I made were directed more toward SG's observations that the government of our country was corrupt (I offer no argument therein). My posting was an attempt to relay my belief that if we are to rectify the situation in America, than it is the American people who must make a stand for what we believe to be right and just. Again, I am sorry if I offended any of our friends abroad by the poor choice of words I utilized to convey my beliefs, and stand ready to offer a private apology to anyone who wishes to contact me. |

Steven, I was in no way insulted as I realized that you did not mean to demean anybody. So no apologies needed. It does say something about your character though that you did feel the need to apologize. To me nationalities sometimes seem to stand in the way of what is right. People fight for their country while they should be fighting for what is right. It is not always the same unfortunatly, while it should be. Perhaps I should apologize for comming accros harsher than I meant. |

Not at all Harry. I in no way found your post to be harsh, or critical. It was well-worded and diplomatic (bravo for that). I stand with you in the respect that nationality (among other idealisms) gets in the way of people doing what is right and just in their life. With any luck, this will be a trait humanity will conquer in the near future. Two things that I have been raised to believe is: to say what I mean, and own my mistakes. In my post I failed to clarify the ideal I was trying to convey, and thus felt the neccessity to own that mistake. I applaud you for calling me on my choice of words, and hope that you will afford me this service in the future. Remember, God gave me two ears and one mouth so that I may listen twice as much as I talk. |
