I'm watching 60 Minutes tonight and they're repeating a segment on the new Ray Gun of our military. It's a neat invention that turns people away without killing them. For a demonstration they show a group of sign-carrying protesters advancing. The Ray Gun is turned on and they retreat. They try again and are once more repelled. Although I had seen the segment the first time it aired, I hadn't noticed what the signs of those protesters being turned back were saying. This time I noticed. They said: "World Peace" and"Love All." Just the sort of sentiments that need to be sent packing! 4-dollar gas? Stay home, kick back, and read a great book by F. E. Mazur. As I understand it, the ray gun makes you feel hot under your skin. It's a variety of microwave and the victim is what's for dinner? Sergeant Heel of the Los Angeles Police Department is doing a pilot study on civilian applications and he says the results are encouraging. Nor is this the only high tech device that is being considered for crowd control. As far as I know, love and peace are not currently on the globalization agenda. Perhaps if you wrote a letter to the G-8 nations in care of the World Bank . . . . http://www.fdungan.com/bushwhacked.htm |

I think if you make a suit out of chicken wire you might be able to withstand that weapon. (Farady cage principle) You would need some thermic insulation as well though as the wire might get warm. But in what might it be better than a water canon or something like that? It is funny that the protesters carried 'world peace' signs. As Fred said, that is definitely not on the agenda... |
