Nancy, I just got done reading Graven Images and all I can say is...GREAT JOB!!! I couldn't put the book down. It grabbed my interest from the first chapter. I thought I had figured out the ending more than once. I was wrong. I have a bad habit of reading the last few pages of a mystery when I think I have it figured out, but I wouldn't allow myself to do it this time. I am glad that I didn't. You did an outstanding job. I would highly recommend this book to anybody that hasn't read it yet. It was a mystery, but also an intriguing story about the loveable yet tragic Cally Jo. I can see why your numbers are good at Amazon. Good luck to you. I think you have written a winner. |

WOOT, nice Kathy. Kathy, Graven Images is the Mindsight Book of the Month. Please go to "The Mindsight Forum" topic from the main section and put a quick (or long) review up for Graven Images under the Book of the Month thread to help Nancy out a bit CEW |

Thanks, Kathy. :-) You made my day. Actually, my Amazon numbers aren't as good as I'd like. However, I did fall below the 1,000,000 mark today - finally. I must admit, I am confused by Amazon. Even Ingram. People tell me their ordering books - and I know that they did, but it isn't even showing up on Ingram. I'm getting to the point where I just kind of ignore the whole thing and work on selling my book. I have a review coming out in Library Journal in February, as well as a positive review in I Love a Mystery. And a group called Wicked Company is sponsoring a week long preview of GRAVEN IMAGES at the end of February. So - hope is high! Thanks again for ordering. I appreciate it. Nancy |

Nancy, I agree with you about Amazon. I cannot figure it out either. My numbers never change, yet my book is listed under bestselling anywhere from # 100 to #311. Who can understand that logic? I did leave a review at Amazon for Graven Images although they don't usually show up for a week. Keep on plugging away lady!! Thanks for the tip CE. I will leave a review for Nancy. I really loved the book!! Kathy |

Well... ya got me stumped... what's a WAG? Is it something like WAC? Speaking of abbreviations... what is [sic]? WOOT is an exclamatory and doesn't stand for anything other than WOOT! (or sometimes, if you're in a real good mood it somehow becomes WOOTIES! - I don't really know how or why) I learned it through osmosis whilest playing one of my online games, like most of the other online lingo I know, most of which do stand for things (like ROFLMAO, LOL, BRB, AFK, WTF and GERBLSCHMIDTS - oh wait, I don't think that last one is real...) So what's WAG? Waking a Giant... no... Wookies are great... hmmm... Washington Agricultural... um... Where are going? (heavily accented)... probably not... er... What's 'appenin' G?!... hmmm... It's a mystery... kinda like my brother, who is very fond of BLURAB... but no one knows what it means at all. CEW |

CE, [sic] is defined as: adv, intentionally so written -- used after a printed word or passage to implicate that it exactly reproduces an original ---courtesy of the Merriam-Webster Dictionary The only way that I see for it to apply for the salutation to a letter is if Ms. Adkins' contract and file at PA state Victoria, and if she signed Vickie, rather than Victoria. If it's just plain Vickie, it makes no sense at all, except to show a lack of understanding of the English language or the use thereof. And my favorite is FUBAR. Oh, yeah, WAG is what a dog does with its tail (lol). |

WAG must be a postal term. We always had to give an estimate on how much mail volume came in each day. Didn't have to be exact....just a Wild Ass Guess. hahaha. Kathy |

C.E. Glad I could give you a chuckle. The next time someone yells to you, "Can you give me a WAG on that?", you will know how to respond. My husband says that they used WAGs all the time in the military too. Unbelieveable how much useful knowledge can be obtained on this board huh? Laurie Anne, what is FUBAR? I need to learn somethiing new today. I am just dying to use the word WOOTIES now. Kathy |

ROTFLOL. Too cool! I like WAG, knew FUBAR before, but forgot about it. I'll have to find a way to use it. My personal favorite is FINE. Especially when someone asks me how I am, and I am not having a good day, I can say, FINE - Fouled-up (again a substitution, I'll let your imaginations fill in the real word), Insecure, Neurotic, and Emotional - That describes my state of being, sometimes. So if I answer I am FINE, y'all know to watch out. Tonight I am not FINE by the way, I am okay, and okay is good enough for me. smiles and blessings, Nancy Marie |

OKAY: Only Kids Are Young--just trying (your patience, right?) NMa, I like that, FINE. I'll have to remember that. I like all the FORD things, too. Especially when my kids ask me how to make mac & cheese. I say FORD: Flip Over, Read Directions. |

Original latin for Sic means "so it stands in the original" even if it's spelled incorrectly!! "Printed in brackets as guarantee that passage has been quoted correctly" even if it's spelled incorrectly!!! But I'm not bitter.... VickIE |

N.Ma, FORD has a great number of meanings around here. Fix Or Repair Daily Found On Road Dead F'd Over Rebuilt Dodge Flip Over, Read Directions Any of the above worked for my Tempo (never buy a Tempo)--it cost me $5K in 6 months for repairs--right after the last payment was made. Mostly, though, because my mechanic was a sexist pig who insisted I didn't know what I was talking about when I told him that it needed a new starter--but that's a whole other topic. My dad took my mother's Fairmont to my uncle to work on. Dad asked Uncle Richard what was wrong with it. Uncle Richard pointed to the little emblem on the front. "Do you see that?" "Yes." He then led Dad around the back of the car. He pointed to the emblem there. "Do you see that?" Again, Dad said, "Yes." Uncle Richard slapped his arm across Dad's shoulders and smiled. "Everything in between." Hehehehehehe |

Nancy Ma, Twus just kidding. PA constantly misspells my name, and when I posted a letter that they sent me regarding my second novel, I wanted to send it exactly as they wrote it, but again my name was misspelled, so I wrote (sic) after Vicki (should be Vickie), saying this is how the original came, but it's not correct. Clear as mud, right? Congrats on your new arrival! Best, VickIE |

Hi guys, It's not me. (DARN) Unfortunately, I didn't enter Nancy's contest, too busy hiding away over the last while. I'm not a librarian, but I am Canadian. I've been fretting over a book singing/reading scheduled for Feb 9th at my local library. Now it seems everybody in the community wants my book, and there are only about twenty available. You think that qualifies them for Collector Edition status? One guy just offered me fifty bucks for an autographed copy. I'm trying to convince him that I don't want that much, but so far he's not listening. I guess I'll have to suggest to folks that they share their copies, or use the library. Boy, do I ever need a publishing contract. Sorry for going off topic here, but I'm on a roll. As far as mentioning previous publishing experience, I did and it back-fired big time. You know, I just realized that this is a public thread. I believe it's best if I post the rest of this privately. So, congratulations to Donna the Canadian librarian. Donna |

Donna, I was hoping it was you, but I didn't know whether or not you were a Librarian. Anyway, my good thoughts were on you getting the book.... Sorry. That is quite good about everyone wanting your book. Get it out there girl and hype it a bunch, but what about not having any available, if you want to write me, you can at Cltvcoyote@aol.com. I thought you were with PA... hmmm. Claudia |

Claudia, Thanks for having nice thoughts regarding me. I do appreciate that. I was with PA but have been released as of January 8th. So, the twenty copies I have of A Friendly Smile are the only ones currently availible. I instigated my release for a number of reasons; price (29.95 US), lack of availibility (as far as I know, PA doesn't even register on Canadian book store computers), and rude treatment of people who had questioned abnormally lengthy shipment times. One woman ordered thirty copies and had to wait four months for delivery. I felt this was a bad reflection on not only my publisher, but on me as well. PA didn't work for me, but I sincerely hope it serves you and all its other talented writers well. As writers, we deserve to have our words read, our voices heard. Donna |
