I've made the commitment. I've had writer's block for a year now. Started last May and now I am determined to break it. My mommy is coming up for my son's forst communion and she is bringing a copy of Full Scale Retreat with her with her opinions on what to change and I promised her a copy of The Ark and the Covenant. I just have to read through it now and make some changes I have decided on. Nothing breaks a writing block for me like editing. Of course nothing breaks writing like having three kids running around needing your help with everything.

Actually it sounds like nothing breaks writer's block like having a "mommy" around to threaten to give "that look." You know the one, all of us guys do.

Arms crossed, one foot tapping, a faint glare while doing that Mr. Spock thing with her eyebrows. A sign of immense displeasure with us. It's an amazing motivater for us Y-chromosome types. As they say- when momma ain't happy, ain't NObody happy.

When she's done...do you think she could come over to MY house and light a fire under ME!!??! My wife is too sweet (she only does it to HER kids anyway) and my mom's in California.

Good luck.

Another good way to break writer's block is to go off and do nothing but write...which I can't do, so I have to settle for going off and doing writing while I'm visiting relatives...pumped out quite a few pages on a project while I was away...always fun...

Usually getting a movie that is based on the same idea as mine will help jump start me, but it seems as of late everytime I get started something else gets in the way. It's like going forward out of a parking space only to realize too late that there is a cement block there. Er, ah, not that I ever did that, especially in college, right in front of a bunch of guys from my dorm,,, and in a minivan. Fortunately I am my favorite writer (does that sound arrogant?) so when I do get in to editing it goes quick, then I want more from stories.

I just sit and tap out whatever comes to mind on my word processor and delete it when I'm through. It helps to clear out the cob webs and at least I'm writing something, anything.
