My publisher said this week she is commissioning a screenplay for my book in the near future. Her plan has always been to position it for foreign translations and either film or TV adaptation. I know very little about this part of the business, so guess hiring a screenwriter is the first step.

As some of you may remember, I was asked to write a "treatment" for Paramount Studios a few months ago. The screenplay is the next step. Nothing moves fast in this business, but in the near future she will open discussions regarding film or TV rights. I'll get excited later, when it is a solid deal, but I'm grateful that the CEO of Dandelion books believes in me and my book so strongly.

As another of our members is fond of saying: I'll see you at the movies, and maybe the Emmys or Oscars. or something along those lines.

Wonderful news Laurel. And very well deserved, mostly by you.....

I am gonna say something here, that some may not understand, but I am sure you Laurel, and many others will, THERE IS LIFE AFTER PA, and you, dear friend, have gotten a hold of it.

In fact, several on this board are showing STRONG signs of RECOVERY!!!! You have made it through and broken a glass wall, of which you should feel very proud and are totally justified, after having lived the nightmare with your other book. Now, get your first book out of PA's hands and get it into someone else's who can do it some good also.

BTW, WHERE IS BARBIE?????? Barbie, where are you????

Cool,
Can I paly the lead? I want JLo or Jennifer Aniston, or Julia Roberts or, or, or...any of them, for my leading lady!
Great news, Laurel.
Proves once more that good things happen to good people!
I hope it works out super for you.

Thanks for the good wishes, everyone.

Bill.....super cool dude that you are....somehow I doubt you will land the lead. Drat it all anyway. But you'd have to read the book to understand why.

I'm just kidding. It does not seem real so I will believe it when I see something concrete. I am ever so grateful that Carol Adler of Dandelion thinks well of me, despite my self doubts.

Laurel,
I just want to extend my good wishes to you. The Alley of Wishes is one of my all time favorite books. I have let more people borrow it than I can remember. I have only heard rave reviews! As I read the story, I thought over and over that it belonged on a big screen.
You are the best Laurel!

Hi Laurel: I read the excerpt from your book on your publisher's web site. It sure grabbed my attention. Good luck on your screenplay.

Thanks everyone. There is a larger excerpt on my authorsden site and on my Nebraska Center for Writers page if anyone is interested. www.authorsden.com/laurelajohnson

I appreciate the well wishes. I know that if a movie does happen, it will be a long tough process and a long shot.
