Hey, everyone. Wicked Company, an author's message board, will be previewing GRAVEN IMAGES this week through their WC Book Club. Also, they will be hosting an author's chat with your's truly, Thursday night, 9:00 pm, eastern time.

The link is: http://chat.iuniverse.com/default/default.asp?nick=&channel=

Claudia McCants will begin taking questions at 8:30 - I'll come on at 9:00.

Wicked Company has over 500 members. DorothyL members will be invited also - they have over 2,000 members.

This is the very first chat for the book club - so we don't know what to expect.

I'd love to have some of you come! (So it won't be just Claudia and I!!! LOL!)

It would be my privilege to be support to you in any way if you will give me a hint what to expect.

Nancy,

I'm going to print this out and post it up, but try and remind us again, okay? That's four days from now, and I'm feelin' older by the day. :)

Best,

Vickie and Laurel,

It's eastern time - and the moderator will be there 30 minutes early to take questions.

You don't have to have read it yet, Laurel. (You haven't read it yet????? Sniff, sniff. (G))

I doubt that most people will have read it.

This is my first chat, too. Except for MSN messenger. (And one failed attempt years ago!)

I will try to remind you again before Thursday!

I was more efficient than I expected to be so got my work projects done. :)
Oh believe me.....I WANT to read it but at this moment in time I can't order any books. I just felt that it would be handy to have read it before the chat.
And DUH....now after rereading your posting above I see that it is eastern time.
I will bookmark the site and be there or be square!!

Nancy......

If it's like any of the chats that I've been to, all of the people who have signed on have their names posted so that everybody can see who's there.

Just keep your eyes peeled for a guest whose name starts out with "Get thee"

Oh, thanks, Dennis!

I wasn't the least bit nervous until you said that!

I don't seem to be a big target of "Get Thee's" so hopefully, he/she/it will leave me alone!

Well Nancy, "Ya done good". It was my first chat so duh girl here couldn't figure out how to view the chat at first. It was a little more interactive than I expected it to be, but you pulled it off like a pro.
I was curious to know who some of the others were since they didn't use a name I recognized, except for Kitty, Claudia, and maybe McCoy.
I was interested in your book signing in Manhattan. Manhattan is 60 miles south of the town I wrote about in my book - Marysville (Palmetto) - and some miles south and east of John's resting place.
What time is your book signing? I'm doing yet another big work project on my home p.c. on Saturday so not sure I could even think of being there but sure would like to meet you and buy a signed copy of your book.
I hope you have a huge turnout and sell LOTS of books.

The book signing is in Manhattan - KANSAS, CE! LOL! Not quite 'da hood!

It will be March 3rd - at Waldenbooks in the mall. (Manhattan Town Center)

Laurel - oh, if you could come - that would be marvelous. Maybe we could go to the cemetary afterwards and have dinner together!

That would be so cool!

Thanks for coming to the chat, guys. Small - but a beginning for the group. Claudia wants to have me to it again after they get things together.

I had a good time!

Nancy,

Sorry that I wasn't at your chat last night, but I had a Regional Planning Meeting (in town, 25 miles away) that I had to be involved in. Glad to hear that it went so well for you and everyone who took part had a good time. My first big (the 1st of the Borders ones) booksigning is tomorrow, so keep your fingers crossed that I get a huge turnout.....

Have a wonderful signing in Manhattan, KS too.....

Does anyone have a clue what "unadjusted demand" means on Ingram automated system?

Unadjusted demand sounds sort of like they had more orders than books. But of course, I rarely know what I'm talking about haha.
Even if I knew about Ingram's automated system, I would be scared to check it out for fear of learning more than I care to know!!
My cover finally appeared on amazon.com and now I'm waiting for my amazon ranking to be somewhere in the neighborhood of six billion. :)

I would guess that "Unadjusted Demand" refers to some kind of pre-order schedule from booksellers (i.e: B&N says they will buy 5 per month, or something to get a price). Once the actual order is placed (or not) it becomes "Actualized Demand".

From there you drill down into production planning, etc... That's just a guess, but that's how we do things at my work, for example.

I just got off of the phone with Ingram. I have a number to call and speak directly to one of their buyer reps. He is out of the office until Monday, but I will call him back then and find out what it means.

personally, I wish it DID mean sales. 102 for this week would be niiiice!

Update....

I will still talk with the Ingram rep on monday. However, I do know that their week runs from Saturday through Friday. My unadjusted demand for Strike Hard last week was 102...which translated into a total adjusted demand of 14. For now...figure the math.

Just got off the phone with Ingram concerning the "unadjusted demand and adjusted demand"...

According to Terry at Ingram: "The unadjusted demand reflects the number of times that a bookstore has entered our system. It doesn't necessarily reflect that the store has bought the book, or ordered it. As teh week goes, from Saturday through Friday, the computer system tracks the number of inquiries. this amounts to the 'unadjusted' demand. Once the week is completed, the actual sales are tallied and this becomes the 'adjusted' demand."

I hope this explains how it works!
