Okay, life has definitely gotten in the way of my writing life and I'm tired of it. I assume everyone has different ways they write. Some people may be able to stop at night and pick up at the same spot the next day, etc. I can't. I've been trying for two years now. That was the last time I actually finished a book. I finished putting Shades of Silence together in January, but the idea and the actual writing of it had been done for over a year.

When I wrote Flowers for Megan, my husband and kids were so good. They just let me write. I'd stop every once in a while to cook or clean or something, but my mind was just filled with the book for weeks while I wrote it. Same with The Butterfly Game.

I have this wonderful story in my head right now. It's been there for several months, but I can't get going because I know that when I do I won't sleep, etc. until it's done and the world has just crowded into my writing life until I can't even write anymore. It isn't that I'm so busy I don't have a few minutes a day or anything, it's just that I need several weeks to do nothing but write and breathe. I need to be a hermit.

So, that's my whine for today.

Gloria

when you find that place, let me know, I need to go there
LOL, not that I want to run away with you, I just need a place to get away from the world to write.

Would it be great to have a place to run to for six weeks - free - just to write and someone would paid the bills and do all the chores?

That would be wonderful. As it is I get up an extra hour early, most mornings, so that I can write. I am enjoying writing "Dragon Tears" so much that getting up early isn't that hard.

I'm the same way, Gloria. Lee Ann and I have even talked about running away to a cabin in the woods (with electricity for the computer, of course) so we can get our screenplay written without interruption.

In the acknowledgments of True Blue Forever, I thank my husband and kids for going without clean clothes and food while I was writing it. The thing is, they really did.

It isn’t so much time that is my problem.

I got myself a new job as I was about to get kicked out, (with all my colleagues)
It is more interesting, but on the other hand it means spending more time behind a computer. So when I come home I don’t always feel like writing anymore. Maybe I should return to pen and paper?

I write in spurts. Somedays the words flow, other days I'm blocked. I attribute it to my past job. I was so stressed that for a long time I lost my creativity. It's coming back slowly, but I'm happy for the good days.

You didn't happen to be a secretary/legal assistant/receptionist/bookkeeper/officemanager to four attorneys did you?
