I got this review on Authors Den of my short story "Midsummer Shower" from Tony Pearson, whom I met when he checked out True Blue Forever from Lynn's Lending Library.

"Armed with her exquisite grasp of the Southern experience, Joyce weaves yet another emotion-ridden tale of tragic young love...but this time with a twist and a secret that, as you read the closing lines...will make every hair on your body stand on end. Joyce is a master story teller, and with this latest, she is amazingly quite adept at painting a sympathetic, three-dimensional character who is entwined in the most complex of dilemma’s...one that would normally require pages and pages to fully explain and understand...yet Joyce pulls it off beautifully within the confines of a very short story. I don’t know of anyone else who could write with such skill.

Joyce Sterling Scarbrough is one of the literary world’s best kept secrets. Let’s hope it doesn’t stay that way. Well done, Joyce."

Besides the warm fuzzies I get from such a wonderful review, I particularly enjoyed Tony's comment about my "exquisite grasp of the Southern experience" because this short story didn't make it into the "Emerging Southern Voices" anthology I submitted it to!

Toyce~

Your story, like everything you write, is incredible. You have every right to get warm fuzzies. What an outstanding review!

And, for the record, this is the part of the review I absolutely agree with:

Joyce Sterling Scarbrough is one of the literary world’s best kept secrets.

Yes, you are. And, remember, my literary sister, fortunately for you secrets are something that are rarely kept. The literary world will indeed discover Joyce Sterling Scarbrough in the near future and I'm happy I will be there to see it!

Way to go!

Joyce,

I have heard such good things about your writing! If I ever get a moment to myself, I'll have to check out your writing! Say hi to Tony for me, he's a good guy. Nice Review!

Hey Shannon! Long time no see! How are you?

Thanks, everyone. I'm sure you all know how much we need those little boosts to keep our chins up when faced with all the struggles and rejections tossed our way.

And, to paraphrase one of Mickey's lines in TBF, one of the main reasons I know God loves me is He gave me Lee Ann to be my friend and writing partner.

Diana, I'm looking forward to reading Moonsword, too! I should have a chance to read again once Lee Ann and I get past the non-stop work we've been doing in preparation for her Writer's Weekend in Seattle.

Toyce, you are paraphrasing Mickey's lines for me? Stop that! I have work to do and you're making me cry! Anyone who knows me also knows that True Blue Forever is one of my favorite books in the whole world! What a compliment!

Love ya, Sis!

Lee Ann

P.S.~ God loves me, too. You're one in a million!
