Becca,
I like your site. I think it will attract authors. I would like to start my own web site thread. Can you tell me what you did? I 'd like to do this so I can "generate talk" in my small town to help promote my book Innocent Heart. Thanks

Sure! Go to www.AMAZINGFORUMS.com and they will have a "New Account" button. Click on that and it will walk you through the steps. Now, when finished, find the Httt://www.amazingforums/YOURACCOUNTNAME/.com and then cut and past that hyperlink into your web site. It's easy, cool, fun and kind of new.

Thank you for the info. One problem though. Well, maybe 2 or 3. I don't understand what a hyper link is, I don't know how to cut. I do know how to paste. My website for my book is authors den. Will they let me do that?

Erica...okay you are a bit computer challenged are you not? I don't believe that Authors Den will allow you to produce a forum linked from their site. I think the content could be linked back and they don't want the liability. Besides, you need to be able to access it and remove unwanted posts. Authors Den is almost impossible to make changes in.

Do you have a web site?

Rebecca,

I went to your forum and I like it. (Even posted) I hope it is successful and doesn't become attack by the uneducated name callers. Sadly, some people can never get out of their freshman year in high school... Buy best of luck to you. I will be visiting more.

Oh that's the great thing Fred...I can DELETE anyone who does not follow the rules:

Respect each other and regard yourself as a professional writer.
No disparaging other authors.
No foul language.
No bad manners.
No emotional posts about publishers, authors, etc.
No slander of another person or the entire thread will be deleted.

It's for SERIOUS writers to discuss topics. Hope everyone wants to chat there some time. Enjoy!

Rebecca,
I don't have a website other than authorsden. I do have a website for my Hair and Tanning Salon and my book pic is in the very top. It's www.webspawner.com/users/ericaadamshair4u. It introduces me and my book before going any further.I can't cut on my computer. It is coded in brown instead of black like the rest of my options. I know that I should be able to change that on my hard drive, but haven't yet. I've been able to copy and paste and I can do that but not cut. I guess I may be a little computer challenged. Anyway, It'd be easier if I could just copy and paste. Is there a site that will allow me to do that instead of cutting? Thanks.

Erica, we can chat in email about getting a website with discussion forum going.

(For starters -- what kind of computer do you have? How are you connecting to the internet?

I'm all for civil discourse, but "serious writers" and "backbiting and bickering" have never been disjunct sets. In a context where all the exchanges are in writing, writers are by definition going to be both oversensitive and heavily armed. A squabble in an unmoderated online forum full of professional authors can be like a kindergarten class where everyone's miked for 200 decibels and is packing a .45.

Api? Okay, I've been gone. What does the "serious writer" and "backbiting" thing have to do with the new forum? The point is?

Okay, Marti and her compadres are watching this and the new forum. A guy named Chee Chee or gal, (Whatever) posted on the site. Sounds like he/she's really young and one of the rebels. Ya'll just go on over and introduce yourselves. I am SURE he/she would love some insight. A history lesson perhaps?

Rebecca

I was as nice as I thought to be at that moment.

Lemme know if I was too mean.

I think you were fine, Andrea. Thank you. People just don't get that they have to voice more than disgust with someone before anyone takes them seriously. I mean, what did they expect would happen really?
