Wow! Wow! Wow! I'm speechless. I started it last night but only got a couple of chapters read. I bookmarked my spot and took it in to the bookstore today. It was an extremely busy morning, but early afternoon I started again. Every time the front door opened and the bell rang I thought to myself, Oh no. Not another customer. I can't put this book down. Before I knew it, it was 5:00 and time to go home. As soon as I got in the door I started reading again and couldn't stop until I was finished. (Sorry everyone. Feed yourself! AWESOME! ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! I immediately took it down to Ashlee (my daughter) and said, READ! Great job Gloria. And LA and AuthorInks, you've found yourself a real winner for your first book. Congratulations to both of you! Job well done. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery and thrills enough to make me have goose bumps! Great storyline too! How'd ya ever think of that?? |

Vickie!! Thank you!!! Wow!! It is always the neatest thing to hear from people you don't know are reading your book. Then it saves you all the worrying. What a nice surprise to come in and see this message. I hope your daughter enjoys it. As for how I thought of it, your guess is as good as mine. When I was a really little girl, I dreamed once that we drove past a house and there was a dead lady wrapped up in plastic. That dream has stayed with me for thirty years, as if it really happened. I pass the house every day and always thought of it. I don't know if that is partially responsible for it or not. The whole butterfly thing just evolved. I don't know why. The idea that these things just come out of my imagination scares the bejeebus out of my sisters. Gloria |

Vickie, I agree whole-heartedly with your evaluation. That is why you will always hear me singing Gloria's praises. SHADES OF SILENCE is just as good, and I know that Gloria is set to go places. LA LaurieAnne

Todd, It might take more than your check...did you manage to get a whole $13? LOL Anyhow, yes, it is available for order. We are working on contacting as many stores as possible to start carrying the book on their shelves so that it won't have to be ordered, but yes, it can be ordered. And if you have time, stop in to the site and let me know what you think of the updates. (I have one link that I know is not working properly, but I'll have to do that tomorrow. It's been a long weekend, and morning comes much too quickly.) Ordering through a bookstore, I've never had to before... Although I do have a little bit stashed away from other royalty checks/sales, so I think I could spring for extra if needed. Mindsight Moderator Check out Who Needs a Hero?

Well, I just finished The Butterfly Game as well. And now I turn my thanks for a mostly sleepless night churning pages to Gloria. {CE bows and nearly falls over asleep} Ms. Marlow, you sure can generate suspense... right up until the end I had to turn the page, had to get that next tidbit to figure it out, had to dial in that scope. All of those little subtly, or shall I say, nonchalantly (is that a word?) dropped hints... I was sifting clues with a paper towel by the end, and still had some doozies left that did nothing but muck up the gems (an allusion, nothing derogatory there). Good stuff! Wow, again! Thanks, CE. Todd, as far as I know, it can be ordered through bookstores and it's returnable so maybe they'll even decide to order one or two extras for their shelves. I don't know anything about paying for shipping. Fred, I'm not even sure they're really differences of opinions. I don't know what they are. Anyway, thanks. Gloria |

Um...I tried to order Gloria's book from Borders here in town, and they told me it didn't show as listed, in their national system, nor in 'Books in Print'... And as soon as I get in there at the same time as the manager, I plan on suggesting he stock a few (in addition to copies of John's)... Mindsight Moderator Check out Who Needs a Hero?

Todd, wow, that's nice of you. I hope it doesn't disappoint. Don't tell me when you get it, then I don't have to think about you reading it and if you don't like it, you don't have to feel obligated to tell me. I called Ingram's number and it is showing up there and it is on amazon now, so I don't know what the problem is with Border's. All the kinks just got worked out though in the last few weeks, so maybe it takes a little while for it to show some places? Maybe it would help to have the ISBN? It's 0972238549. It would be so cool if they stocked a few. Keep me updated on whether they agree to order some. And just because I feel it's time I said this, LA has been great to work with. Everything hasn't always gone just the way either of us wanted, planned or even in our timing, but we have shared a belief that Someone knew when everything should come to fruition. It is all working out now, when I am much more mentally able to handle it than I was a few months ago, and she has been very willing and able to deal with the snags we hit. It's nice to deal with a publisher who is supportive, open and honest about things, who let's you know where things stand, either good or bad, and will answer a million and one questions. Enough for now. Gloria |

I told the fellow at the info desk at Borders I'd check back in a couple of weeks...figured Borders might be lagging a bit over everyone else...although I'll be sure to take the ISBN with me next time as well... I'm hopeful that when I go in next time, the manager will be there... Mindsight Moderator Check out Who Needs a Hero?

Gloria, congrats on the terrific response your book seems to be getting around here, may it be the harbinger of national sales success for you. In my experience (which is growing by the day) Borders takes forever to get stuff into their systems. I've even heard them say that Books-in-print doesn't show books, that I know for a fact are in that system. It just seems to take them longer than anybody else. Sooner or later, it just shows up and there you are. (so far we've gotten everything listed by the release date, but even with three months advance notice on a title, it's still been a little close for my tastes) Diana |

How did I miss this thread! (I'm waving my hand back and forth!) I read it, too! I loved it. Couldn't put it down. I told Gloria a long time ago that her writing reminds me of Mary Higgins Clark. Clark knows how to tell a story - and she keeps you guessing until the end. IMHO, Gloria has everything it takes to hit the BT. (Big time!) That's what I wondered about, Diana...they were telling me it wasn't in Books-in-Print, yet it shows up on Amazon (which is how Borders does online sales, if I'm not mistaken)...very strange... Uh oh, Nancy...you shouldn't have told me that about Gloria's writing (reminds you of Mary Higgins Clark)...I'm destined to tell my wife at some point, and I'll never see the book again after that...argh. Oh, my, blushing! Thank you, Gloria. But it's easy when I'm working with someone as level-headed as you. Okay, so this is getting to be a compliment-festival. Can't say I haven't warned everyone many times over. When I start talking about Gloria's writing, I just can't stop. The only thing that is going to stop me right now is the fact that she has a whip that will reach from Florida to Michigan if I don't send her something to look at that I've had on my to-do list for WAAAAAAYYYYY too long. LOL. OUCH! Put that whip down. As one who read and reviewed this book, it makes me feel good to see others who share my feelings about it. The suspense is about as good as I've seen. You can see the faceless killer as he stalks his prey, at times looking over his shoulder. It brings the reader into the story and makes them want to help. |
