The biggest difference between a writer and a would-be writer is their attitude toward rewriting. p. 227 Stein on Writing

He also states it is natural to resist rewriting.

How do you feel about rewriting? Be honest :-)
What if an editor says that you ending stinks and you should delete the last chapter and start over.?

Writing I don't mind. Rewriting I hate. My latest project, rewriting The Deadly Habit, is torture. The manuscript just sits there about as appealing as spoiled milk.

I agree with Mike on this one, but rewriting is a necessary evil. It has to be done and it should be done before you start sending a manuscript out.

I rewrite over and over and over again. I like rewrites. That is where I add in details, change wording etc.

I've read that "Writing IS re-writing!"

Rewriting can be a drag, but once I get into it, I agree with Laurel, it's a way to look at the manuscript more objectively (especially after several months time) and make some needed changes.

I continue to rewrite even after the book is published, but no one sees the final changes but me!

I just started a complete edit of True Blue Forever in preparation for submitting it somewhere else, now that it's been released by PA. None of the changes I'm making are big, but it sure is a relief for me to finally get to make them. Ah, what bliss it is to change that "the" to a "my" and adding that gratifying semicolon.

Nerdily yours,
Toyce
