Dennis (and/or other Michigan authors if there be any others on the site),

I've been hunting all over the place and cannot seem to find any conventions--or for that matter, writer's groups/associations/clubs--in the state of Michigan. I've found tons all over nearly every other state, yet not a one in Michigan. Have you had any better luck?

Oh, and I've jumped into the Motown Writer's Group...thus far, it has shown only promotional emails and poetry issues.

Thanks,

LaurieAnne

LA
There is one sort of writer's get together in Lansing every year and I think that Lev Raphael runs it. Never been to it.
The next best thing is "GenreCon" in Sarnia, Ontario which is within spitting distance of Port Huron. It's a very friendly mini-conference and it's free. Sometimes they have some influential guests like P/J/ Coldren who is a reader for Poisoned Pen Press as well as a reviewer. (She admits to "a book a day" habit.)The group usually heads for "Ups n' Downs," a riverfront restaurant for dinner following the conference.
On another subject... I don't know how true it is but I just read that 80% of book sales occur between Halloween and New Years Day.
