this is where I'll take my vacation :-)

HMS Bounty Tall Ship Coming to NC

The famed tall ship HMS Bounty is
coming to Morehead City. On Thursday, July
14, the NC Maritime Museum in Beaufort
and the Pepsi Americas’ Sail Team will
welcome the three-masted tall ship into port.
The ship’s arrival will preview the
spectacular tall ships event scheduled for
June 30-July 5, 2006, in Beaufort. The
Bounty’s arrival will be after completion of
filming of Pirates of the Caribbean II,
starring Johnny Depp. Originally built for
the 1962 film, Mutiny of the Bounty, starring
Marlon Brando, the vessel was most recently
featured in the movie SpongeBob
SquarePants, as well as in several other
feature films, television programs and
documentaries.
Visitors are invited to board the
HMS Bounty Friday-Sunday, July 15-17. The
$5 tickets will be available exclusively at the
N.C. Maritime Museum beginning
Wednesday, June

I've never seen the ocean or been on a big ship. Would love to sail on a tall ship. THAT's my idea of an adventure. The closest I've been to that sort of adventure was when I read your manuscript The Prize. If you visit it, Perry, be sure to tell us all about it.

I've been on the Bounty...when it first went public. I was just a little girl. I remember it being very exciting. Wow, that was a long time ago.

I'll have pictures :-)
I've been on most of the ships-of-line.
It is amazing how small some are and how HUGE others are. Bounty is a small frigate.

I'm still hoping to visit the Rose which was the ship for Master and Commander. It's larger than The Bounty.

But neither compares to the Constitution

the Constitution was a very large ship for its time. I saw a few tall three masters when I lived in Redondo Beach and some came into Portofino there just for a few days, because they were on their way up north to Seattle, for a movie they were all to participate in, but I can't for the life of me remember the name of it, although it came out somewhere in the mid 70s. They were totally awesome ships.

And I saw one up in San Francisco harbor, got to walk on and into her. Totally awesome. I think her name was the Balcutha or something like that. Again, that was many years ago. Quite an eye opener about how the people and crews lived back then.

I envy you the pleasure that you will have watching those ships. They are like poetry on the waves. Beautiful anad captivataing.
