Hello, Mindsight folks...I'm back! It's been many a moon since I've posted on here. But Claudia, Nancy, Laurel, C.W., Kevin - at least you guys will remember me. Perhaps a few others, too. Glad to know this place is still here for sharing PA experiences. Goodness knows those come in a wide variety. I dropped by for a moment to let y'all know I've finally cranked out my second book after 3 years. Yes, from PA...let's call it going in to get out and leave it at that. This time it's not about time travel and child abuse - totally different direction. It's called Extra Extra!: Memoirs from a Piece of Human Furniture and it's about what it's like to be an extra in Hollywood - something I was quite often. Write about what you know, right? It's basically a non-fiction, first-person account, sprinkled with anecdotes and it kind of turned into a how-to. Of course, Laurel could tell you about it, too, since she was already kind enough to review it - and kindly review it she did. Anyway, if you're interested in finding out more about this latest offering, feel free to visit my new site: http://www.adammichaeljames.com/extraextra.html. Since most of us have the common bond of PA, no matter what our experience, I thought you guys might like to know. And, as this little family has promotional problems (ahem), I decided also to produce a song and make a video to go along with it that should be ready next month. It took months to film (thanks to budgetary and time constraints; it sucks having a day job when all you want to be is creative), but I was finally able to start the editing process at long last. I also have a blog for this whole project at http://www.livejournal.com/users/amjextra if such things tickle your fancy. I know this is kind of sounding like spam...but ya gotta get your promotion where you can get it in this outfit. I wonder why that is? Hmmm... I hope everything is going well for each and every one of you, and that your creativity finds the home it deserves. Bad grammar, maybe, but sincere. Good to be on Mindsight again! Best, AMJ |

Hey Adam, HELLO and long time no see or hear.... We have missed you guy!!! Glad that you have gotten around to getting this newest book out, even though it is with PA. I guess we all have to do whatever it is we have to do to get to where we want to be. And I don't blame you for coming here to tell us and NO you are not spamming us, you are telling us some great news, letting us know that you are still out there kicking those windmills down. And I am proud of you. By the way, I am a reviewer for Myshelf.com and would love to do a review of your book, IF you would want another review, from someone else besides Laurel. And of course we remember you, your book pops up and hits us in the head every so often, you know..... If you should want another review, you can send me an email and I will gladly send you my address. Please don't be a stranger and come back and let us know how the song and video help with sales. I wish you all the luck and opportunities that you can garner, and sincerely want to hear more from you. Welcome back..... and get back into the talks, I'm sure you have a lot to contribute here. Aw, shucks. Make a guy feel right at home, you do. It was interesting that some things had changed in the contract between 2001 and 2004. Ergo, I am not obligated to write a third book for PA. I can if I want, or I can look elsewhere. Would I like another review? Does a bruin defecate in flora? E-mail me at extraextra@adammichaeljames.com and let's talk about it. Yeah, it's nice to be back...it was this forum that taught me all about PA when I first started. I'll have to make sure to pop in a little more often, eh? Thanks for the warm welcome and for the encouragement! Hugs, AMJ |

Hi AMJ, I remember you! Yeah I remember you, Adam. It HAS been a long time! So it's really good to hear from you again. I've been on the board about three years I think, since 2002. I don't think I started posting until 2003. I think you stopped posting right after I joined Mindsight. Do you remember me...Stacy? Anyway, it's wonderful you are keeping us informed. Best of luck! Hey, Stacy, good to "see" you again! Sounds like you've got some good stuff goin' on with your own project - congrats and thanks for being part of the welcoming committee! And Laurel...about whom I cannot say enough. I had them stick a blurb from your wonderful review on my back cover. And, I'm not a stranger...I'm just strange. And I like it. LOL Yeah, it's a music video. The song is based on the book - sometimes using direct passages - and then the video is based on both the song and the book. I've tried to re-enact the extra's experience as well as I could on the incredibly limited budget I've had. I recreated some shoots I worked on and, while it's really low-budget, I think it's coming together quite well. It should be done in August. And guess what? I posted my press release on this one site and I got two bites from radio shows that want to interview me - one in Indianapolis and one in Denver! I'll post all the pertinent info on my web site and blog, tonight, hopefully. It's kinda scary, but once I psych myself up for it I should be fine. Looks like both interviews are gonna happen Thursday, so I haven't much time, eh? I'll try to pop in once in a while with progress reports. Got a million things to do tonight - thanks everyone for the support! AMJ |
