Hello all,

This is your administrator speaking...

I am not sure I approve of this post, but I will leave it here in case any of you are interested. The above posting equates to junk-mail to me - and I have very strong feelings about such things.

But I will leave it to you.

I just got word that the Paz Report is something that our friend Patrick is involved in. Sorry Patrick, didn't know it was from you - looked like blind solicitation to me. I'll check out the site.

What concerns me about this is the item stating "No pay."

Why is it that so many Internet sites want writers to write for them; nevertheless, they do not wish to pay.

What is it about the 'free' in 'freelance' that makes publications think writers work for free?

Not this one -- not anymore!

Well, no, I'm not involved directly, although I have consulted with my friend Eduardo, who is this website's editor. Here's the skinny: This is a germ from way back for Eduardo (who is a PA author, BTW). When we were students at UT in Austin, both of us wrote for various local avant garde publications (it was the late 1960s). Forever after that, he's had this idea of launching a literary news magazine (print), but economics being what they are for today's artists, he's trying the webzine route instead of doing nothing.
- I would suggest it highly for anyone wanting to add his or her voice to the nation's many socio-political rolling debates/commentaries. I was under the impression that he was paying writers, although that may just depend on the quality of the idea/writing. Ask him if he'll pay for your story/idea. Nothing wrong with that. You like the offer, you write. If you don't, you don't. So, have at it. It's yet another way to flex your writing muscles. And, who knows, someone might read it, be impressed and want more.
- NOTE: (For the many sleuths here) - The Patrick Alcatraz listed as the webzine's articles article is not me.

Warm regards,

/Patrick
