Thought you guys would like to see a copy of a corporate memo that went out from WaldenBooks. Found this on a writers' list:

Dear Author

As part of an ongoing initiative to improve author events in our
stores, we have decided to make the following changes in our program. While we
always strive to support local authors we must also make smart business
decisions.

Effective immediately, the following changes will be in effect for
store-initiated or regional autographings.

*Autographing events will be no longer than 2 hours (unless you have
customers waiting to have a book signed).

*If in the 2 hour time frame you know you can sell at least 25
hardcover books, 35 trade paperbacks or 50 mass markets then you should contact
your local Waldenbooks to arrange a signing.

*At any time we encourage you to set up an event to sign existing
inventory in the store, where you would sell less than the criteria listed
above.

*The book must be a full discount, returnable title we can order from
an approved distributor (we will not order Print on Demand titles or
short discount titles).

*To ensure a timely delivery of books for the event please schedule
it at least one month in advance.

*Provide the store with promotional materials i.e. flyers or posters.

Thank-you for your cooperation

Hmmmm. Yes the non return policy is rough. I told the Christian book store lady I would buy at her wholesale price any of my books that didn't sell within a certain time period. Luckily....they all sold. :))
but I repeat. Ouch. The non return policy is rough. Thanks for sharing that Nancy.
