While editing a manuscript, this thought struck me - "Is the agent's or editor's spell check the basis of rejection?" What if the editor or agent, instead of reading, runs it through the spelling and grammar check? RED FLAGS, send it back!!! Just wondering out loud (so to speak)We each hate that "passive voice" message on MS Word. So do they? http://www.perrycomer.com

Pac, If you query by e-mail, maybe, but I doubt it. If by snail, I'm sure they don't go to the trouble of loading a mss just to run it through spell-check. They could eye-ball it faster. After all, they are all-knowing!

I know at least one publisher who uses spell check as their editing service. Dennis Collins Moderator www.theunrealmccoy.com |
