CE,

Have you read Phillip Pullman's Dark Materials trilogy? He won the Whitbread for _The Amber Spyglass_ and I recently read all three books. With your appreciation of philosophy, I wondered what you thought of the books, since Pullman spends an astounding amount of space (particularly in the third book) focused more on his philosophy than his plot needs. If you've read it, I would love to have a discussion about it.

Well, heck, you might read it eventually (and I believe you would enjoy them -- the world he creates for this trilogy is fascinating) and then we can chat about them.
