I went to Tate publishers web site, and asked them to email me A list of their guidelines and submissions. An author participation fee of $ 3,989.30 is required, Ouchhhhh!! They guarentee(oops! may be mispelled)that your book will be on book shelves at every major book store(so they say), but they also say that not every contract that is agreed upon carries that outrageous price tag. Give me some feedback on this subject people, I need to hear from you. Sincerely, Tyrone Godfrey P.S. My moon trip was great, it's good to be back. |

you can be published for nothing and paid for it if your work merits publishing. TG the "mark" of a good story is people will pay to read it. If you are in a hurry there are other ways to be published for a lot less - LULU, e-books and the like are all available. TATE may get your books into stores for that price but if you have to pay to put them on the shelves don't look for the books to sale. It is the quality of writing as well as the story that people buy. If an agent or editor will not give your work a look then there is something that needs correcting. Two tests of your work that cost you nothing. (1) Stand and read the entire work aloud. (2) Make ten copies and give a copy and a red pen to ten friends. Save your money. http://www.perrycomer.com http://www.blogger.com/publish.g?blogID=20779252&inprogress=true

Sounds very much like a scam T.C. I doubt it very much if it will be worth even a fraction of the money. |

I do like how they say "every major book store"... I have to wonder who decides what's a major bookstore and what isn't... With nearly $4000, one could have a fairly decent start at self-publishing themselves. I wouldn't touch them with a ten (or twenty) foot pole... I recently spoke with a co-worker whose father-in-law was close to signing with Tate...hopefully my advice on the matter was passed along before any money changed hands. The spiel given was that the $4000 was a "co-investment" with the company spending either $10K or $14K...I explained that whenever a publisher asks for money, anytime, it's bad news... The business of writing is dog eat dog. Tate and PublishAmerica make it that much worse. May they rot in hell. http://www.dunganbooks.com |
