Can anyone tell me how book fairs work?

A group of Detroit Police officials are trying to put together a book fair to benefit their "Detroit pro-literacy" campaign and have invited some local mystery and children's writers to participate.

The authors will be charged a vendor fee of two copies of their books; one to be donated to the Detroit Public Library and the other will be raffled off at the event.

This seems like a good chance for some exposure in Detroit. I have not been able to crack any of the Detroit venues but now I've been invited.

No date has been set for the event but they're saying, "sometime in late 2007."

Dennis,

That sounds like a great opportunity. Two books is not a very hefty vendor fee and it will help you break into the Detroit venue.

I don't know that I've been to a book fair, but I would assume it's a lot like a festival. Just tables set up with authors selling and signing their books.

Gloria described it very well. Sell the hell out of your book after the two donations, all benefit for the time and good deeds.....
