Kaye | Tuesday, May 07, 2002 - 01:37 pm Although my book isn't published yet should I create hype for it? A family friend already invited me on his radio show to discuss the book and I also have a connection at the local television station. Is there a way to go about doing this without over kill? |
    C. E. Winterland | Tuesday, May 07, 2002 - 02:08 pm Kaye, I don't think talking the book up publicly is wise before it is available to the public. Kevin Grover had (if memory serves) a similar situation, and the potential customers were quite upset when they couldn't get the book. Just my thoughts in passing. CEW |
Gloria Marlow | Tuesday, May 07, 2002 - 08:38 pm Kaye, There may be ways to get the word out so that people are looking forward to it, much like a trailer for an upcoming movie. Maybe you could just talk about being a writer, not all that much about the book. Or maybe if you have a pretty definite date and say it won't be available until then. Just make it VERY clear that it isn't available yet. Of course, you may want to ignore my opinion, as I am as inexperienced as can be with the promotion part, but I did have a lot of ideas for it at one time. Gloria |
