Once upon a time, some of us on this board started a discussion on a book titled "Stein on Writing". I think we were going chapter by chapter and discussing with one "leader" for each chapter discussion. Maybe we could try this again. If not with this book, then with some other book or just some material on writing if anyone has some. Perhaps we could do some sort of rather organized thing where we talk about various aspects of writing and then give examples we've written that showcase the current discussion and critique each other. All of us have our strong points, but we all also have weak points and maybe we can hone our talents by working with each other. I'm in, Gloria. I love Stein. I've also been reading a really good book by someone I know. James Scott Bell has written a couple of books about writing. "Plot and Structure" is one, and the other is titled "Revision and Self-Editing." I haven't read it yet, but I'm hearing good things. If we decide to go with one of Jim's books, I'm pretty sure I can get him to stop by once in a while and answer questions. What do you think? Well, why don't you guys look over the books I mentioned or look for others you might be interested in. Then we'll vote on which book to use. BTW - does anyone have a way to contact Pac? I think he might come back and get involved in this if he knows we're starting up again. And Gloria - thanks. I'm so glad you brought this up. I will contact Pac. I have hesitated bringing up the idea but I truly have missed the writing-related conversations we used to have. I thought maybe I was the only one who felt they still had something to learn. Mindsight used to be a place where we all really learned together. I hope it can become that again. I've missed it. Nancy MINDSIGHT MODERATOR "The Ivy Towers Mystery Series" Barbour Books - 2008 www.nancymehl.com

Hey, guys. Read my interview with James Scott Bell on Mainly Mystery. www.mainlymystery.blogspot.com. This is the guy whose books I think we should study. I'm pretty sure Jim would come here and answer some questions once we get into things. What do you think?
