While working on my current WIP, I've had some good ideas for the next book. I'm looking for some ideas on how to keep these ideas for later, since I don't want to lose the groove on this manuscript.

How does everyone else keep track of their notes for future works?

I keep a tablet for writing down thoughts and ideas. The tablet is strictly for writing ideas -- snippets of thoughts, words that resonate, character and plot ideas, locations -- anything that pops into my mind.

Keeping such info in a computer file does not work for me. I need something handy where I can grab a pen and jot something down whatever else I might be doing around the house.

Word documents for me, but I'm joined at the hip to my computer.

Word for me, too. I actually start a file like it was a real story. If it doesn't come to fruition, I delete it.

I have a file folder that has notes and stuff on it. I write on napkins, scraps of paper, envelopes -- I've even wrote scenes on the back of grocery receipts, although it takes quite a few of them. Whatever I can find handy to write on at the moment that I can stuff in my file folder when I get home.

Eventually, I put it into separate Word files for each book idea.

Anything will do, but I like my tiny digital Sony recorder that I carry with me quite often. Mine is an early version and so only allows for 1-hour recording across 3 file folders. Even so, that's been more than enough. Today's models are the same pocket size but allow for recording times in excess of several hours. Also, some, like the Sony, can be purchased with software that allows you to dump the recordings onto your pc. They run about 50 cimolis and I've seen one that even includes an AM-FM radio. Since I use a Mac, I can't dump my ideas from the recorder to the computer, but just recently I went through each recording and erased those that had developed into stories and others that over time lost their appeal.

I keep ideas in a notebook, but if I get inspired with an opening, I write it in Word.

I have several notebooks at strategical places and a 'soft' notebook on my computer. Sometimes an old envelop or a piece of toiletpaper (unused) will do if I have nothing else. I have even written ideas on walls while I was fixing my house.

Sometimes I get ideas in the middle of the night and I scribble them on paper with the lights out and my eyes still closed; that is not always a successful method...

I've been doing both (handwritten notes and electronic files/printouts) recently, along with this miracle of technology they call a corkboard...amazing what having pieces of paper staring you in the face will do for motivation.

You could also carve the ideas in your arms and legs with a blunt knife, but you might end up in a straitjacket. That is pretty serious as in that case you can't write at all.
