This is just a gentle reminder to all the kind people on this board that participating in sending hate mail to various parties does nothing but lower ourselves to the antics shown on the PA boards. Slander and libel is something others participate in. Not us. We're bigger and better that that. House Boy (HB) claims on the boards that he's been sent viruses and openly wonders if I'm responsible. This, again, is slander. Let these people reveal their own shortcomings. But let's be certain that we always take the higher road here. I honor my new home and embrace the kindness you've shown me through what has proven to be a difficult and interesting turn of events. I thank you, one and all. Fond regards, Lynn |

It's defamation, not slander. Slander is spoken. Libel is written even if on a message board. The editor of said board is also liable for the actions. |

Lynn, The people who frequent this board don't do that sort of thing. They just get accused of it. We'll get them (viruses and hate mail) too, have no fear. Next it will be bad reviews from anonymous people. The people on PA will get them and we'll get them. It happens time and time again. I have my personal opinion on why this happens. I think it is done to make the gap between the "sides" bigger. I think it also makes those at PA think we are a bunch of obsessed yahoo's over here who want to destroy them personally and of course we can't defend ourselves. For goodness sake, we're all writers, we know what kind of files are on people's computers. Why would we want to destroy someone's work? Why would we feel that sort of hate to people who are in the same boat we are? It just all serves to foster the "us" and "them" attitude and diatribe. I don't think ANY authors are involved at all.

I seriously doubt viruses are being sent to him or that he would be able to identify a virus even if it had. Just as much that I doubt the ability of writers/authors to get viruses and send them from spoofed addresses. Let's be honest, if there were any disgruntled authors out there with hacking skills, that board would have been brought down to its knees by now.

I stand corrected, Publius. Thank you for the clarification. Glora, I didn't think that any of the good people over here would entertain such idiocy. But, I just felt it had to be said. Tony, you could be right. I have no idea. All I know is what he thinly accused me of and I found that to be pretty reprehensible. There are a lot of sick minds out there, so who knows?

I'm still shocked from the hate mail HB posted here, telling us all to get effed. Someone I respect checked out the public board - because he knows Mindsight is the only message board I frequent - but unfortunately he saw it after the fire fight started. The first thing he mentioned to me was that posting or postings by HB recently. I made no excuses, and no, I did not trash HB in my reply. But I hated that the first thing he saw was that sort of post. Like Nancy Mehl pointed out, it makes us all seem unprofessional. |

not really - it just points out what sort of behaviour HB is capable of. if he had any shred of talent I would cringe at taking him on as a client, agent or publisher, with these public displays of profanity and juvenile rantings... it doesn't reflect on YOU as much as it does on HIM as someone who wants to be taken seriously and professionally... he never will be, with that attitude. I mean, would YOU want him as a client or sign him up for your publishing house? unless you responded back in the same cursing juvenile words, it doesn't reflect badly on you at all... it only shows his immaturity and the behaviour he's used to getting away with. jmo, ymmv. |

I want to echo comments already made here. THERE ARE NO MINDSIGHT REGULARS SENDING HATE MAIL OR VIRUSES!!! Don't begin to believe that. We are mature, professional people who would never do that. Now, could there be a lurker who would do it? Yes, but to be honest, I doubt that too. My guess is that it is a pro-PA'er who wants to stir up trouble. The immaturity comes from that side, folks. Not here. My friend Vickie (where are you, Vick?) and I know of one PA author who regularly writes negative, anonymous reviews for books on Amazon. We easily tracked her down. But there isn't anyone who is committed to this forum who would ever do that. C.E. isn't that way - and his character and ethics are respected and duplicated here. So - don't fall for the "they're sending viruses" crap. It's a ploy. Nancy |
