Gloria asked that a new thread be started for this topic, so here we go.

Actually, I don't like to sell my books to other authors, or anyone else for that matter. I like to exchange or give them, but as a reviewer I usually have everyone else's book. And like everyone else, I cannot afford to give my books away after being my own best customer and buying them.

PA lowered The Grass Dance price. The supply I have on hand cost $9.00.
I have several of the 1st edition of The Alley of Wishes version on hand. $13.00 This is the 1stBooks edition. The content is essentially the same in tboth editions, but they have differenc covers and ISBNs.

I have none of the second edition on hand.

I have posted reviews of the books I've read on the Mindsight Book of the Month thread.

Hey, I'll join in(switching to author's hat). I agree with you, Laurel, exchanging books would be great, but we have to make a buck. My book, A Separate Beginning' is long (440 pgs.), but well worth the effort. It is a very character driven medical fiction with a twist, and reads very fast. I believe it retails for $24.95, but I'm selling it for $19.

Here's a review:

Michael Strelow quotes Tom Robbins in an interview published by Northwest Review in 1982: “Personally, I ask four things of a novel: that it make me think, make me laugh, make me horny, and awaken my sense of wonder.”

Fortunately for her readers, Lynn Price’s A Separate Beginning fulfills Tom Robbins’ requirements, to say the least. In this entertaining first novel, you’ll find romance, humor, philosophy, and the opportunity to ponder the power of the mind and the strength of the human spirit— in short, you’ll find characters you’ll root for, whose humanity will move you, and whose story you’ll want to follow into a sequel.

Price’s writing is sophisticated but accessible, the characters complicated but sympathetic, and the story so deftly written that you’ll be glued to the page. This book is worth every dime and then some.

I just LOVED Strebow's requirements Lynn. Sounds great. I'll have to read it.

Yes The Alley of Wishes retails at 17.95 but I sell it for 13.00. It's 300 pages or maybe a few more.

I'm all for selling books, but my number one priority is getting my book read. Is anyone interested in a reading ring, where we each mail a copy of our book to the person behind us on the list, then pass them on when we're done until we get back our own book? We did this on the PA board a long time ago and it sort of fell apart, but I'm game if anyone wants to try again.

Otherwise, folks may email me at joycescarbrough@yahoo.com to buy a copy of my book for $17 with no additional shipping charge.

Here's the synopsis:

Someday, she'll be my girl.

At the fifth grade honors program, three eleven-year-old boys are captivated by a brilliant little red-haired girl named Jeana Russell as she recites the poem she wrote. They know Jeana is special, and each boy secretly vows to win her heart. As these four unconventional teenagers grow up together on the Alabama Gulf Coast in the late 1970s, they become bound to each other in relationships as volatile as they are complex.

Jeana is an unpretentious heroine who refuses to be anyone but herself: a smart girl who thinks she'll never find a boy like the men in the books she loves to read. But when Mickey Royal moves back to Alabama from Washington after the death of his father, Jeana is baffled by her instant attraction to this three-sport athlete with the bluest eyes she's ever seen. When she discovers he is also honest, dedicated, and a whiz at math, she realizes she's guilty of stereotyping--something she despises. As she and Mickey grow closer, Jeana believes she's finally found the hero of her dreams.

Wade Strickland is Jeana's childhood friend and the first boy she ever kissed, but something happens over the summer between fifth and sixth grades, and Wade breaks Jeana's heart with a cruel remark. He becomes an arrogant jerk and is the reigning football phenom until Mickey arrives, setting them on a path to violence from their first encounter. Billy Joe DuBose is Jeana's wise-cracking best friend who bonds with Mickey instantly because of their shared dislike for Wade. Jeana doesn't know how Billy Joe really feels about her, but his love for her is clear to everyone else.

How will the lives of these four teenagers be changed on their journey to adulthood, and which boy will succeed in winning Jeana's heart?

Oh, Joyce, that's a terrific idea and one I'd love to participate. But...(why is there always a 'but'?) I'm pretty much reading 24/7 with the avalanche of submissions. I'd be happy to toss my book into the ring.

Don't forget that I still have the Lending Library going and anyone is more than welcome to either check out a book or donate one. The site is: http://www.thelendinglibrary.com

Maybe we could actually incorporate your idea WITH the LL. Ideas? I hate seeing all these lovely books sitting idly by unloved.

Laurel: Isn't that quote the very best? I nearly fell out of my chair with that. It's a very apt definition of my book. It's in the Lending Library if you don't want to fork out the bucks.

Hi all. Thought I'd put up information on my book as well.
The title is "Pregnant and Blown Off (When Abortion is Not an Option)" and it was published by PA in 2001. It is about hang gliding off the African coast during hurricane season. No, not really, just kidding.
It is actually about being a single pregnant person/mom.
The cost is $400 per copy, which is firm and non-negotiable. Please, no quibblers. It isn't that the book is that good, it's just that I'm a single mom to two children and I'm saving for college costs.
Let me know who wants one!

"The cost is $400 per copy, which is firm and non-negotiable"

LOLOL, Sheila! I was drinking some water when I read this, and may I say that backwash does NOT taste good?

"Crap, Lynn! Your book is checked out! Tell the person who has it to send it back so I can borrow it!"

Ooops. No it's not. It's here, I haven't updated in a while. And even if it weren't I happen to have another copy or 100 that would fit the bill. Don't paypal me. Remember when you accidentally forked over about $9 the first time you checked something out? I got to thinking you thought you were with Molly and playing the slots. LOL. I'll send it out to you via Media Mail tomorrow, okay?

Hi all! Just taking a few minutes before I go from one job to another. (Yes, Lynn, I'll get back to work in a minute--put the tar and feathers away!LOL). My first novel, MOONSWORD has been called "Harry Potter for adults" and "GrounBreaking fiction" and I've been called "One of America's next great rulers of the fantasy world". If you really are interested visit Amazon.com or the Lending Library to read more reviews. It's a faerie-tale thriller about a prince who is transformed into a woman. It is in the Lending Library. Also, I'm excited to announce that the sequel, Empress of Clouds will be released this summer from Behler Publications!

Also, for those who know me and care about these things, we have a film crew from The Montel Williams show coming here on Friday, and I'll be taping in NY on Wednesday, May 5. I'll let you know when it will air.

Okay, now I'll get back to work.

Oh, nice to see you here Joyce!

This is a test. This is only a test. Don't be alarmed. Do not take cover.

Sorry to use this thread for this purpose, but I've been unable to post here for several days. Was it something I said?????

Here is the blurb for my book "The Fire Within", published by PA.

In her thirty years of Life Elysia Reeves has endured a lot from her mother. Everything from physical and mental abuse to the forced rape that she endured routinely under her mothers watchful eye. But her mother isn't truly a woman. She is a demon that has walked this planet since the time of Adam and Eve. She is the Phoenix. A ruthless creature that doesn't age. But Elysia knows her fatal flaw. Her immortality comes at a price. One that Elysia is no longer willing to accept.

When Kaleb McCallister comes into her life she knows there's something about him, something special. Fearing for her life she sneaks away in order to save herself and the one thing her mother desperatly wants. Her unborn child.

She knows she can't run forever and in the end there is only one thing left to do. She must face her mother and this time only one of them will walk away.

But which one.

I just sold my last copies and don't have any on hand, so if anybody is interested they will have to get it from PA or any other place. It is 224 pages of horror/suspense. Here is a review from Joyce Scarbrough (thanks Toyce).

Joyce Scarbrough, an avid reader, March 15, 2004,
Scary stuff!
The opening chapter of The Fire Within is like a kick in the gut and is perfect for making the reader empathize with Elysia Reeves, the daughter of a monster known as the Phoenix. Elysia is beaten and forced to have sex with strangers to satisfy her mother's need for babies she sacrifices to fuel her immortality. Elysia's tortured existence is encapsulated in an opening sequence that details her repeated rape by a sweating fat man her mother paid to assault her, but the real horror is symbolized by two little words she must say to her mother after each episode of cruelty: 'Thank you.' The rest of the story isn't nearly as graphic as Elysia attempts to escape her torture with the help of Kaleb, one of the men her mother brings to rape her. She manages to get away, but her mother is able to track her down and wreaks havoc and death on everyone Elysia comes in contact with. Elysia and Kaleb are able to escape again and try to rebuild their lives with each other and their baby on the way, but Elysia knows her torment will never end unless she faces her mother for a final showdown. Kevin Yarbrough writes brutal scenes in unflinching detail, but he also portrays the closeness and the depth of feeling between Elysia and Kaleb with a sincerity that exposes him as a caring, sensitive person. His characters are real--sometimes terrifyingly so--and his story never drags, right up to the end that sets the stage for the sequel I look forward to reading.

"Sorry to use this thread for this purpose, but I've been unable to post here for several days."

Welcome back, Nancy. It would appear you are up and running just fine now.

"Was it something I said?????"

I seriously doubt it. You're too classy a lady for that!

"Yay, Lynn! Do you still have my address or do I need to send it to you? And please refrain from characterizing me as a Paypal Gambler! I'd lay three-to-one odds I could do it right the next time"

Joyce, Joyce, Joyce, what WILL we do with you? Yes, I still have your address and will get my book off to you. Paypal Gambler...LOLOL. I've already opened up the betting as to your next blunder. They're lining up outside my door, I tell ya.

You're welcome, Kev! BTW, I did read the Bone Gap excerpt Saturday as I promised. I've been recovering from it since then. <shudder> That's some scary stuff! I'll email you about it in more detail.

I just had to share this message I got from a reviewer for The Writers Room e-zine:

"I should have the review finished within the next couple of days and I will make sure I forward a copy of it to you before it even hits the e-magazine. I did not stop reading it until it was completely finished that same night it arrived. At about 9:00 p.m my husband said "Do you think we could have dinner soon?". I was so involved with the story and the warm feelings it gave me that I didn't realize what time it was. However, my sweet husband never said a word about dinner being so late and patiently waited until I read the last page for dinner to be made...I think we ate about 10:15 that night."

Isn't it a beautiful day today?

I'm in that line as well Toyce, though I am way at the back. Can't see your husband and kid though, to many people in my way. I got five-to-one odds that I can guess your next blunder. And no it doesn't involve calling the cops or letting the dogs out the next time your hubby is away.

I anxiously await your email.

"Lynn, tell my husband and son to get out of line and get back to work!"

You know what? I tried. Really, I did. They insisted that it was such easy money and promised they would take you out for a nice dinner with their winnings.
