I'm thrilled to announce that Authors Ink Books has contracted my second novel, Different Roads.
As with TBF, I shot myself in the foot with this book by not making it fit neatly into any one genre. Although my heroine Jaycee is a foul-mouthed hellion who takes crap off no one, her journey to where she learns that everything happens for a reason takes place on a broken road that God indeed blessed (to borrow from the wonderful song by Rascal Flats), and her story is unarguably a spiritual one. Finding a publisher who understands and appreciates Jaycee's tortured spirit has been a rocky journey for me as well, but I was determined not to sell her out by making her less controversial for those editors she offended nor apologize for the character growth she attains by the book's end for those who think finding God weakens a strong character.
Once again, I'm indebted to LaurieAnne Cruea-Blosser for her open-mindedness and vision as a publisher, and I couldn't be more pleased with our continued association.

A phallic symbol? Hope that doesn't make people think there's lots of sex in it or something. Oh, wait. There is.
Gloria, did you recognize the lighthouse? It's the one in St. Augustine. My sister bought me a framed 24X36 print for my living room called "Storm Warning" that has a lighthouse and lightning bolt almost like my cover. She's a good sister.

Hey, a guy in a tiger suit broke into that lighthouse, barricaded the door and climbed to the top yesterday morning. There he stood on the top of the outside of the lighthouse, in a big tiger suit with a white flag. Isn't that weird? At first, the radio people said he did it for promotion of a children's book, but now he says he did it to protest child porn. Who knows. I think he may just me nuts. (It wasn't Bill.)
