Hello everyone and Yes, it is true. The Story Begins... The following is a synopsis of my fiction book regarding the history of five (5) martial art styles from the countries of; JAPAN, KOREA, CHINA, AFRICA & BRAZIL. KEEPER OF THE ARTS D.J. Grant’s life started by being subjected to a severely abusive childhood while under his mother’s care and then suddenly sent away to live with his unknown father. One day, D.J. and his father saw a martial art movie that influenced him to learn self defense. Now in his early twenties and a student of the Korean martial art style called Tae Kwon Do, D.J. is excited about the opportunity of being promoted from second degree to third degree black belt status. D.J. has studied only one style of self defense and is faced with the dis-appointment of not being promoted when his instructor tells him to experience other styles of the martial arts world before receiving his promotion. During a walk home and a brief discussion with two friends, D.J. separates from them and is introduced to Nerrot, Master of all Keepers of the Art. Within every person’s mind that learns or teaches Martial Arts is a sub-conscious realm known as SymDo. For that martial artist, there is also a Keeper of the Art who responsibility is to maintain his/her memories. Nerrot is the Master of all Keepers of the Arts and has also chosen D.J. to replace him and become the next master. Prior to the newly chosen one, a former protégée named Tarag was exiled from the Sacred Temples of SymDo. He stole a pendant that controls the mystical powers from the cosmic force that created the SymDo realm. Nerrot takes D.J. to five countries to experience their past history of martial arts. Due to Tarag’s interference, Nerrot and D.J. are forced to physically experience the history that puts their mere existence at risk. D.J. is able to complete the experiences with Nerrot and returns safely to the place where he first met Nerrot only to wonder if it was all a dream. ### SymDo = Symbol which stems from the Ying Yang (symbol) icon that represents Soft & Hard in all aspects of life. Do = means The Way of Life Tae Kwon Do, Karate-Do, Aikido, Hwa Rang Do, Tang Soo Do... Tarag = Grant which is my middle name but in reverse and altered Nerrot = Torren in reverse who is my oldest son. D.J. Grant = Main character and D. J. is my second son's name. I wrote this book as a play in the early 80's. I called it; Dream Maker. Years later, I created a chance for myself to turn it into a book. If you have always been interested in knowing about a certain style, here is a good opportunity to check out a brief history on; Aikido, Shaolin, Kuk Sool Won/Tae Kwon Do, Capoeira and some added surprises that include The African General; Hannibal Barca. Although my book si in the Historical Fiction genre, it is a action/adventure story. Peace & Good Reading I hope you get a copy to enjoy.
