The Penguin Group has put together a Guide to Online Marketing that is completely free to download. It's a PDF file, and it contains some very good, basic information about creating an Internet presence to market your book.

It IS very good information, especially for those who have absolutely no idea how the internet works or how to set up a website.
I myself decided (after reading the document) that I needed to start familiarizing myself with how to work on Wikipedia.
