Shrugs. S*&t happens. Folks choose to post on threads and folks respond. I don't really care if Fred posts on my threads, but since he cannot get on the site anymore, we won't have to worry on that little matter any more, will we?

He is my friend and I like him alot.

And it is a sad day when the free discussion of ideas must arrive at this point.

As far as my writing goes, I wish I had more time and wasn't so lazy when I did have more time.
I get plenty of rejects, one told me a tale was TOO HISTORICAL. That is ok. The world is full of screwy folks.

A kid at work heard us discussing some Dracula movie where Judas Iscariot was really Dracula, and the kid asks seriously, "Who was Judas?"
I thought he was joking and said, "Ya know, the Bible? 30 pieces of silver? Judas?"
He really had no clue.
SO the communists are winning...we are really getting to be that stupid in this nation.
Is this a product of our education system, a lack of attention in FILM or media, or parents who didn't give a rats behind?

Ok, proof I can divert attention from writing on my own thread....but I think it says alot about READERSHIP.
Guys who read my tales say "I never thought history was cool until I read yer stuff!"
Shrews the educator.
Pardon me while I unfurl my cape.
Better not use an SS t-shirt for my logo.
WOuld the populace really know what he SS were or think it my initials?
sighhhhhhhhhhhhh

Actually, they might not even comprehend it could be your initials either...

That tale has gotten alto fo exposure and many really liked it. It was written on a dare from Dave Bowlin that I couldn't do a futuristic romance tale set in paris. The punchline is killer...

Since I now have a total of two short stories in my repertoire, I've been pondering the prospect of churning out a few for either profit (fat chance) or to enhance my rapidly withering name recognition.

How's this for an inspiration for a great short story???

The other day while I was picking up trash along the shoulder of Interstate-69 (Yes, I do have a social conscience.) I happened along a perfectly good looking CD. I didn't recognize the name of the artist but the song titles seemed innocent enough so, instead of throwing in the trash bag, I stuck it in my back pocket.

When I got home, I washed it real good and stuck it in my old CD player. It turned out to be a pleasant sounding cabaret singer crooning her heart out. Not bad at all.

But in that millisecond between the time you slide the CD in the slot and the music begins to play, the thought flashed across my mind, "What if this CD contains sort of demonic spell planted by some Haitian VooDoo doctor that will rip the soul out of any unsuspecting person who listens to it?"

Is this a seed???

Jennifer, I must thank you for putting me onto the ECHELON PRESS dollar download thingy, for it looks as if Karen has offered me a contract for BEDLAM UNLEASHED short story....and I think her email was a riot....

"...I have finally finished reading Bedlam...should not
have read it during lunch...but I am very impressed."

LOL! :-)

This is about Norse berserkers at the battle of Clontarf in Ireland, 1014 AD on Good Friday...and kicks off the BEDLAM series...a series Peter J. Welmerink and I have co-authored enough tales to fill an entire novel, BTW...around a dozen tales at over 80000 words...

So more tales about Erik Bedlam and Alanis Johanson are due soon.

And who wouldn't want to read about a berserk Viking mercenery with a piece of steel lodged in his skull, who is always hallucinating the netherworld around him?

Thanks folks.
Yeah, expanding knowledge of just who an author is is part of the promo deal that never ends.
"I remember that guy" is what I want when folks see my name.

For the next book, books, etc, yes, I continue to swim or try not to drown.

BEDLAM UNLEASHED is the first tale in a series and hey, got enough for a book...and plans for a full novel tale called BEDLAM RULES...about the Christianization of Norway as a wizard hunts for a piece of Odin...)

Now, if I can think of how to stop time.

Jennifer, erik is an interesting fellow and many of his weird ways are funny and rough to watch. In a tale SHIELD OF BLOOD he sleeps with the rather portly, hideous 40 year old daughter of a rich land owner who has been drafted to marry a simpering fellow landowner's son....and as she decides she is sick of being used as a pawn (to produce an heir) and has the elderly men of her clan slaughter the neighboring family, Erik points at her, bathed in the blood of her victims and says to Alanis, "Tell me she isn't beautiful!"
How's that for romance?

I've been creeping forward with my latest folly of writing a short story for (hopefully) publication.

Doing a little research on Voodoo has uncovered some very interesting information. It's good enough stuff to include in the story.

However, I'm a total novice in the short story world. If this were a novel it would be simple, I'd just begin a new chapter whenever the scene or situation changes. But, do short stories even have chapters? I don't recall ever seeing any. That's going to make it tricky to move from one thought to another without totally confusing the reader.

If I can't figure this out, I may have to turn it into a full length book.

If that tale is a long one, I have divided it into ACTS or whatnot. PROGRAM OF THE ELDER GODS is like that.

In the BEDLAM series we wrote one called ETERNITY IS NEAR and it kept getting longer and longer even more acts....I think it popped out to be 18000 words, which is abnormal in short tales.

Just tell the tale. Don't get over complicated on the first draft. Tell the story. Don't concentrate on how pretty you want it to sound. Just write it. You can apply spackle later.

Why Laurel, KICKING AGAINST THE PRICKS is really the title to my forthcoming book about the publishing industry...DOH! Just kidding...

That is a line from the Bible, actually, when Jesus meets Saul/Paul on the road to Damascus. It was meant to say Saul, it is hard for me to get the message across with you obstructing me. As in the tale, the Crusaders/Saracens have their won agenda and obstructions. Also, it wasn't just the Christians that slew pagans en mass. The sword of Islam did it fairly well, too.

Lynn, if you knew how many folks want short stories from me right now...and how many I say NO to...one print antho has changed their fantasy format twice on me and I have been flummoxed by it. And they wonder why their is such genuine bile in some of my tales...but that can be great for creativity. I love a challenge.

I've spent more time on novels lately and not subbing tales....but this one fell in my lap sorta by request. It is cool when folks send you links SUGGESTING you sub stuff :-)
